    1pmobile FAQ's
    If you don't top-up by your next top-up due date, then we deem that you no longer wish to use 1pMobile as your mobile provider and your service will be cancelled.

    Thanks Cisco.  It is all a lot of hassle, having to change SIMs every few months and then porting the numbers over each time.   So unless somebody knows of a company that would provide the service virtually free, just a charge for use at a very cheap rate and not having to top-up, I think we will stay as we are.

    I was just enquiring to check that I wasn't missing anything.
    Are you currently topping up each phone with £10 every 120 days, or are you sacrificing £10 of your credit sometimes to extend your service as has been suggested? (Which I believe 1pmobile no longer offer).
    If not then your mobiles cost you £30 pa each which I wouldn't class as "virtually free". Depending on your usage pattern there may be a significantly cheaper option, but the crux of that is why haven't you built up a much higher credit balance with 1p if you hardly use your phone?

    Rwg £2pm teaser package would give you the equivalent of £9,50 usage at 1pmobile prices each month, and would save you £6 pa.

    While if you hardly use the phone you could top-up £5 and make one call or text every 90 days at a cost of 5p and you won't need to top-up again for 25 years at current prices;

    There isn't, presumably, any other PAYG provider that is better?
    I'm with Tesco. Topped up £10 about 2 years ago and am still using it.
    Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

    How do you do that?   According to the website you get your bundle(Rocket packs) and it lasts one month..
    How much is a call / a text and data ?

    As with other networks you MAY be threatened with disconnection for not topping up, but not as strict as 1pmobile
    But basic tesco rate is 8p per minute. How long would £10 last you?
    And again, what is the reason why you don't have a huge credit balance with 1p?

    Thanks for that.  The Lite Tarrif sounds even better.   However, if I don't top up, I would be the unlucky one that they will disconnect me !
    Even 8p per min would last some time.  A lot of my text messages are with other iPhone users which are free.   I normally try to keep voice calls down to 1 min - 2 at max, and if necessary ring back from my landline (unless they are ringing me!).
    I presume when my next top-up is due from 1p mobile I could switch (I would presumably loose any credit that I still had with them).   If I find that I am draining down the £10 quickly,  I suppose I can switch back.

    You would need to obtain a pac (easiest way is text the word PAC to 65075) before your service terminates. This generates a code to authorise transferring your number and is valid for 30 days. It does not commit you to leaving. Once your number transfers your old service ceases immediately. It is probably best to do this a week before your next topup date or when you have run down your credit. With tesco and a few other providers you have to actively opt-in to normal payg before you topup, otherwise they assume you ate buying a monthly bundle at that price point.

    HOWEVER if you are using that much credit you may actually be on the best deal for you right now. Where 1pmobile works best is for people who use the equivalent of 3000 minutes each year but not the same amount each month. Other providers offer one-off monthly packages to cover high usage periods but you have to plan ahead, and if you haven't used the extra alliance after 30 days you lose it.

    Seriously take a look at this deal from rwgmobile (uses the ee signal like 1pmobile does). One £20 payment covers 12 months at the equivalent of £2.50 calls, £2.50 texts, and £20 of data at 1pmobile's prices each month. I would guess you don't normally use your phone more than that;

    Out of interest I just checked. I last topped up with £10 on 1 April (I was a fool !!), and now have £13.63 credit until 6 August. They are inviting me to use £10 of my credit to top up and extend the date. If necessary, I may as well wait until nearer August.

    Most of my charges are 0.01p, except if I am away when I may use more data (unless a hotel etc. has free wi-fi !).
