I placed an order worth about £50 with a major retailer, which it sent using a courier that is well known for bad service, and the order was delivered to the wrong address. After contacting the courier and getting no response, I contacted the retailer, which sent a replacement (using a different courier). The original parcel has since been dumped outside my house. Do I spend even more time arranging a return, or keep both as I’m fed up with companies using terrible couriers and think they should take responsibility for their poor choices?

Unfortunately the MSE team can't answer Money Moral Dilemma questions as contributions are emailed in or suggested in person. They are intended to be a point of debate and discussed at face value. Remember that behind each dilemma there is a real person so, as the forum rules say, please keep it kind and keep it clean.

Strewth...
Why does the MSE team thinks these made up "dilemma" threads are a good idea?6 -
Yes. To keep something that isn't yours is theft. Contact the vendor as they may tell you to keep it anyway as it is often too much hassle for them to arrange collection and put back into stock.

From Forum rules..
'Illegal' or 'grey legal area' content
Do not promote, encourage or glamorise any illegal activities. In particular on MSE, if you are thinking of posting about taking advantage of something that is dubious, or that exploits a 'grey area' of the law, err on the side of caution and do not share information about it. Common sense prevails here.
Nuff said.

It'll take 30 seconds to send them an email to let them know, ball is in their court then. Same happened to me last year with a Ryman delivery. I emailed them and ended up buying the duplicate delivery for a decent discount.2

I would reply, but anything I would have to say about these so called 'dilemmas' is likely to get me another warning.Past caring about first world problems.2

If it was a little old lady who only sold 20 tea cosies a year on Etsy, everyone would say return it.
But 1000 employees who all lose 10p from their annual bonus and it's fine to do a bit of theft.0 -

Did you pay for both? If so, it's yours. If not send one back at their expense. You say the couriers are dodgy, so change to a more reputable compnay if you can.
Not really a dilemma it?0 -
It's your opnion that a terrible courier was used. The company obviously doesnt hold that opinion. You are holding onto goods you have not paid for so you are technically a thief so get in touch to find a solution for return.
