Money Moral Dilemma: Should I return the duplicate order I received after bad delivery service?

Contact the company and ask for the pre-paid label to return the item, or for them to have the item collected. It is not yours.
They have behaved well by sending a replacement promptly.

Simple - just contact the retailer and ask them what they wish to do about it.1
-
Contact the retailer via email just once to ask them what they want to do.
If they don't respond, say after a fortnight; then do what you want with it:use it, pass it on, sell it.1 -
If I remember rightly legally you should tell them you have received the extra one. You need to tell them that if they want it back they should arrange a pick up and in the meantime you must keep it safe and unused for a certain time. I think it's 3 months.1

And be liable for the cost if they come back over the next 6 years.Gosportmum said:Contact the retailer via email just once to ask them what they want to do.

Very true, but how does one enforce a loss of £50 (or probably less as you’d be looking at net cost purchase minus collection as a loss)?powerful_Rogue said:

If everyone followed this 'rule' right out to the edge, as you have done, there would be no moral quandaries to discuss, would there? This person isn't glamorising crime, they are asking a legitimate question re dealing with bad service. Maybe skip playing moderator.born_again said:From Forum rules..'Illegal' or 'grey legal area' content
Do not promote, encourage or glamorise any illegal activities. In particular on MSE, if you are thinking of posting about taking advantage of something that is dubious, or that exploits a 'grey area' of the law, err on the side of caution and do not share information about it. Common sense prevails here.
Nuff said.

I had exactly the same experience. I phoned the retailer and they said I could keep the duplicate order , but suggested I take it to a charity shop .2

A “major retailer” is going to invest £35 to recover somewhere between £25-£50 from this suspected fictitious question poser?powerful_Rogue said:
