CPW / O2 - PAC Code nightmare!

Hi Manut
I'm with CarPhoneWarehouse and O2. Just called CPW to ask for a PAC - got put through to retentions department - my requests for a PAC were ignored until the guy eventually realised I couldn't be swayed and said "Sorry, I'm not authorised to give out PAC codes. You need to write to us and give us 30 days notice". I was on the call for 46 minutes (I'm glad I visited http://www.saynoto0870.com first!)
My contract expires 12th August. I'll give O2 directly a call on Monday, but if no joy will write letters to the addresses in the thread.0 -
Pretty awful CPW - but I thought you could go direct to the network to get PAC codes as per as any other network? Is that not the case rather than getting messed around by carphonewarehouse?0

As 11 months are up, I want to give 30 days notice to end my O2 CPW contract and get a PAC.
Do I need to write two letters, one to cancel and one to request the PAC?0 -
hi,
i just received my pac from cpw/o2 last week. i had to call them up, then get passed to retentions and then finally onto disconnections. get a disconnection code/number from cpw and the southampton address to write too. sent them a letter requesting my pac and then got it via text and letter a few days later. so was not as painful as i was expecting really, maybe i was just lucky on this occasion.
got offered some fairly decent retentions but in the end after the trouble i have had with them over the last year i could not trust them to back up anything they have agreed to verbally over the phone, without fear of getting stiched up like a kipper! have decided to say good-bye, no love lost..
cheers,

it depends on what you want to do, if u want to disconnect ur contract permanently then u just need to write one letter to request a disconnection.
if u want to stop ur current contract and take ur existing number to a new provider then u need to request a PAC. by giving ur new provider ur PAC it will automatically disconnect u from O2 CPW when u start the contract with them.
Either way you will need to get a disconnection code/reference from CPW and then write to them to either disconnect or request a PAC. There is only one letter, it depends on what you want to ask for.
hope that helps

thanks. what happens if I request a PAC, and use it with a new provider less than 30 days from the date of my request for the PAC?
Will CPW penalise me?0 -
Just an update.
I called O2 direct and they couldn't give me a PAC code either, so I sent a recorded delivery letter requesting a PAC code to:
Carphone Warehouse
PAC Request
Ref 1007/02
PO Box 345
Unit 19
Southampton
SO30 2NR
The letter was sent yesterday and PAC code was received by text today - I didn't even have to chase them up! As I'm transferring my number to another provider I didn't ask to cancel - in the letter I just simply asked for the PAC code.0 -

I've moved recently and, since moving, my o2 (o2cpw) reception's been 0/1 all the time. Putting my SIM in my OH's phone confirmed that it's the network and not the handset.
I called up o2cpw on 0800 049 0 049, followed the menus - 2, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2 - gave them my number and told them my sitch.
Instantly, I was given the above address and told that I'll get my PAC by SMS within 48 hours of my letter being processed. Woop!So not the drama.0 -
