2nd attempt to obtain PAC from CPW/o2:

Called back on the 28th and explained straight away that I had called the day before and was advised to call again. Deadly silence while the advisor read my file, you could hear the 'tut', 'tut', 'tutting', (hairs on the back of the neck starting to stand up). Eventually he spoke and asked if I had pen and paper, which I did. He first gave me the address, which is the one in Southampton and then the PAC. I have been given an 8 figure number so it seems that they do vary. I was informed that the PAC would be sent by text 'about' 3 days after my letter had been received.

Now call me careful or perhaps paranoid, but due to the fact that I do not trust CPW as far as I can throw them but I made three copies of my letter. Number 1, I sent to Southampton Royal Mail next day special delivery. Number 2, Another copy to Southampton, this time by Royal Mail 1st Class recorded delivery. Number 3, I sent a copy to CPW/o2 C/S at the HQ in London W3, Royal Mail 1st class recorded delivery. All have to be signed for showing receipt of letters & also proof of letters sent.

There is no way the bug**rs are gonna say that they have not received my notice of cancellation as they have been known to do.

Is this the last I have to deal with CPW????? I have a gut feeling the answer is NO!!!

:j
• Just spent half an hour on the phone to CPW trying to cancel a soon to end contract. What an experience! No matter what I said to them I could not get them to give me the address to cancel it. They just ignore you and practically demand an explanation why you want to leave them.
As it happens my employers have supplied me a mobile phone and permit reasonable use, but this was none of their business. But I told them it, just to get on with the process. But they weren't happy with that. Did my employers study the bill to see who I was calling? On so on. Despite pleading with them over and over they just passed me from person to another. Finally in utter frustration I said ' Look, I have asked seven times for the address to write to. Would you PLEASE give me it. I am recording this call.' With that the tone changed. 'It's illegal to record calls if we don't know it.' said the 'adviser'. She disappeared off. A minute later she returned. 'As you are recording the call, we are quite within our rights to terminate.' And cut me off.

I have written to Ofcom, my MP and to Trading Standards. Any other suggestions? Apart from 'Don't ever deal with CPW again!'

Can I suggest that you write here:

Write to the chairman of OFCOM. Here's his email address:

Ed.Richards@ ofcom.org.uk

I have written to him and it has been passed to someone to deal with. If more people write and complain about this type of behaviour then OFCOM will intervene. I am awaiting a reply from them. My contracts with CPW are not due to end as yet, but when they do become due I want them to end without failure on the correct day and without too much ado.
• Thank you for that, Steve_xx. I had already read your advice and written to Ofcom.

Through the marvel of email I have also circulated all of my family and friends and business acquaintances warning them to avoid CPW like the plague. That's at least a couple of hundred people and I asked them to pass it on to THEIR friends.

One of the more peculiar aspects of CPW is their sensitivity to me recording the call.
If they weren't ashamed of their manner of doing business they wouldn't care would they?

After all, their website says that THEY record the calls, so they have no problem with them recording calls, but not when the clients do it. :rotfl:

It's excellent that you have emailed all your friends etc, and similarly good that you write here. This is just the sort of publicity needed to a stop to these unscrupulous activities by CPW.

You are right to record your calls to them whether they like it or not.

Maybe we ought to start a campaign on here to get CPW to clairfy all of their terms and conditions.
• Steve,I can't get my email to accept that address:confused: ,any suggestions?

I think I left a gap in the address, between the @ and o of ofcom. Try this instead:

Ed.Richards@ofcom.org.uk

These idiots are still messing us about, we sent a recorded 1st class for a PAC on the 28th Dec, rang today and was told they hadn't received it, we then said it was recorded delivery and gave then the reference number and they happened to find it:rolleyes:
They then said it would take up to 30 days to send the code out by letter:rotfl:

What a bunch of tos**rs.

I've just been given the same runaround and started a new thread (apologies!) but thought it would make more sense to just add my experiences to this existing thread.

My situation is further complicated in that last week when I first tried to get a pAC I caved in and accepted an upgrade..but it never arrived and I'm now being lied to as to where the new handset actually is. I have been told in various conversations today that a) unless I return the new handset in 'time' I will have to keep it, despite no one knowing where the new handset is. b) I can't cancel the upgrade (no reason given) c) I can't have a PAC as I have already gone back onto the system as a new customer so my contract is no longer up. The lies just go on and on and every time I insist on speaking to someone that can help they just hang up. I have been passed back and forth for the past 3+ hours and have now been told that I can try writing in for the PAC but until I have th enew phone in my possession and then return it there is nothing they are obliged to do.

So, am drafting letter to every address I was given (every person gave me a different address and assured me it was the correct one) and will send the Master copy by special delivery.

Which address have others found to be successful?
