The BPA complaint might get a new POPLA code. If not, ignore them and all £170 demands.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Ok great. I'll explore those avenues tomorrow. The bpa say they only accept complaints if you have the outcome of the original complaint with the company. Obviously I have the email but I might try to get more before going that route. I'll try to get the email record as recommended.
Thanks for making things a little clearer. I'm trying to solve this stuff whilst juggling work so sometimes I'm not 100% focused and miss things, so I appreciate the info.
And I fully intend on ignoring any and all demands for payment.0 -
B789 said:You SAR them right now and inform their DPO that a copy of the original email that you say was never received should be provided with all headers still intact, showing the date and precise time that it was sent. If they cannot provide that proof, then you will know that they are lying and more than likely trying to wriggle out of their requirement to pay for a POPLA code.
You also inform them that this proof or lack of it will be used as evidence should they be so stupid as to try and make a claim and that perjury is a criminal offence.
Have these companies been known to do this sort of thing before, outright lying I mean? I know they are scumbags, but blatantly disregarding their own rules in order to keep up the threats and scare people?0 -

"Have these companies been known to do this sort of thing before, outright lying I mean?"
Per NEWBIES thtread:-
"These are some of the comments made by the MPs in Parliament concerning the unregulated parking industry (Feb 2018):
https://hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2018-02-02/debates/CC84AF5E-AC6E-4E14-81B1-066E6A892807/Parking(CodeOfPractice)Bill
''Rip-offs from car park Cowboys must stop''; unfair treatment; signage deliberately confusing to ensure a PCN is issued; ''years of abuse by rogue parking companies''; bloodsuckers; ''the current system of regulation is hopeless, like putting Dracula in charge of the blood-bank''; extortionate fines; rogue operators; ''sense of injustice''; unfair charges and notices; wilfully misleading; signage is a deliberate act to deceive or mislead; ''confusing signs are often deliberate, to trap innocent drivers''; unreasonable; a curse; harassing; operating in a disgusting way; appeals service is no guarantee of a fair hearing; loathed; outrageous scam; dodgy practice; outrageous abuse; unscrupulous practices; ''the British Parking Association is as much use as a multi-storey car park in the Gobi desert''; and finally, by way of unanimous conclusion: ''we need to crack down on these rogue companies. They are an absolute disgrace to this country. Ordinary motorists and ordinary residents should not have to put up with this''.
These are the exact words used, so you should quote them to your MP in a complaint."

Eh... I have about as much faith in MPs and the system they operate under as I do the private parking companies... I've written to MPs in the past and it's totally useless.
I'll see what comes back from the SAR. I'm guessing that if they don't reply within a month I can use that in any complaint/action that may arise in the future.0 -
We must have faith in MPs and their legal and advisory team to get the DLUHC's statutory Code of Practice over the line in 2024!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

So my SAR request has resulted in a generic letter asking for an ID, V5C etc. Whats the general course of action here? Do I have to provide this in order for the request to be valid/the 31 days to begin?
It winds me up that they can do all this stuff with but when I ask for something suddenly I have to prove who I am.
They've also sent a screenshot of the email on the date they claim. Still, I definitely did not receive this email.

Of course attaching ID and the V5C is needed for a SAR.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
