Ok so if the light is on then it means it's on off-peak?0
-
            Yes, it does

Ok, I'll need to try that out at some point. We've switched everything off for the time being0

You can try Octopus but my friend ended up failing to switch with them . Good as they are I don t think the C.S. understood the THTC meter . EDF were the only one which worked, ( and that surprised me) and he only rang the specialist complex meter team .Plus EDF s night rate is cheapest for your area .SkyChild said:On my to-do list this week to get in touch with EDF and Octopus and see what's going to work best for us.
The meter's well above head height in a tiny cupboard, I can only get readings at all by wobbling atop a ladder with my phone above my head so I've ever noticed a indicator light!1

            Thanks for the warning0

Start reading and today's reading. Did you ever supply that? That's key to arguing any usage for a DD forecast.0

I didn't get that start reading on here - can't find it. But yes I supplied it to them.
I've been away over the weekend but my husband's been taking daily readings and it seems relatively low so hoping it was just a blip!0

Ok start reading (30th Jan) was apparently 39055 / 74727
 and today's is 40717 / 75116
Seem to be going up in reasonably small increments each 24 hours so I think we've sorted it with the off-peak hot water and not using the storage heaters. Hopefully we can save up a chunk before next winter0

As long as that is what the energy company have and you agree that the base point for negotiating your direct debit then that's a great start. I presume from your first post you still do want to negotiate this payment?SkyChild said:Ok start reading (30th Jan) was apparently 39055 / 74727

If that is the case I would present to them a use of just over 21kwh a day with a ratio of 80% night and 20% day and suggest the maximum direct debit is set to £200 a month (that is more than enough especially as we move into the summer but will build you a healthy amount for winter if that's what you wish to do)
After a year at that amount you can review with the credit and recalculate.1

Update on the tariff the complex meter team at EDF put my friend in Aberdeenshire on . I checked his account and he has been put on Singleheat ( variable ) at only 9.41 p /kwh on the THTC meter and 32.55 p/kwh on the normal meter. It was nt an eco7 tariff which I thought he was on .That is about the lowest night rate in the UK ( from the highest with SSE )SkyChild said:Thanks for the warning
I don t know the live hours that the THTC meter is operational .
No complaints at all from my friend who is free from his hostage takers at SSE at last2
