As for tariff we aren't on E7 or E10 - it says "Standard THTC" which, from previous discussion, is an outdated Scotland-only meant to be cheaper off-peak tariff. But again, SSE won't update our meter and won't change us to any other tariff, so again we are somewhat stuck.0

SSE website now won't let me download my bills onto phone so I don't know rates currently. Again, I can check and post when I get home tonight. I know we are paying 2 standing charges though, one for each meter.markin said:What are your actual rates currently? And have you worked out what tarrif E7, E10, or the complex?

THTC is still current and its variable in how many hours the meter is switched on and live .Can be as much as 12 hrs in mid winter . Its switched on and off by RadioTeleswitch .SkyChild said:Still don't have the move-in date one (think it's on my husband's phone somewhere, will get him to check)

You will only know when its live either by checking if the night storage heater indicator light ( i presume it has one ) or by a look at the meter which should show if the night rate is active in some way. Digital meters will default to pulsing on and off or showing some sort of digital indicator , and should show a small red light which flashes on use and is solid when not .Analogues will only show its active and in use by the rotating barrel .
My friend in Aberdeenshire who moved from being a hostage of SSE on his THTC ( Total Heat Total Control ) heating rates are now at 10 p a kwh after switching to EDF. He phoned their specialist complex meter team. Hes overjoyed at the huge drop in heating costs from SSE s rates1

On my to-do list this week to get in touch with EDF and Octopus and see what's going to work best for us.
The meter's well above head height in a tiny cupboard, I can only get readings at all by wobbling atop a ladder with my phone above my head so I've ever noticed a indicator light!0

If you want half decent customer service then bypass EDF - albeit you will pay a little more with Octopus most likely, for me it's a price worth paying! Remember also to get a referral code form a friend or relative if you join Octopus as this will gain both of you £50 bill credit.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

 Thanks for the warning1

The indicator light would be on the fused spur supplying the storage heater, not on the meter.

            Hi,something like this. 1 1

Probably more like something like this, as you wouldn't normally fuse a storage heater as each circuit has its own MCB back at the fuseboard.
