E.ON Next require fixed direct debits and smart meters on their fixed tariff contracts (amount can be increased by any amount and decreased by up to 10% online). The date is fixed.
EDF allow either fixed or whole bill (variable) direct debits on their standard variable tariff. Smart meters are encouraged and receive messages passed through to the IHD.

What do you mean by ‘two separate individual accounts’? I struggle to see what this has got to do with smart meters. It is perfectly possible to have smart meters and separate accounts. I could, for example, have my electricity with Octopus and gas with E.oN Next. They would both be using Kraken and they would use smart meter data to populate my monthly bills. Have you thought about switching to a supplier that knows what it is doing.maxmycardagain said:

PS EDF has yet to switch accounts to Kraken. From the EDF website:
‘The licensing agreement will see EDF use Kraken to manage its five million customer accounts in the UK and further develop its home heat and electric vehicle offerings. The migration of EDF’s customers will start in the summer of 2023, with a target of project completion within 18 months.’
