Why are people so disparaging about IHDs?

For me, yes, VAT is included, and contrary to many here, my IHD has always been correct on usage (kWh) and cost including usage, standing charge and VAT at 5%.

There would be mass rebellion if they increased the 5% retail energy VAT rate. 

Who  said increase? 2.5% would get a lame duck government a lot of votes

Reducing taxes hadn't even entered my mind.

But this government could still reduce the level of tax they ought to be paying before they squirrelled it away offshore.

Back on topic the government doesn't trust it's IHD. they are stuck in a Loop not very Bright and no, no-one in HMG is called Hugo !!

I'd call Eon and ask them to raise a request with the smart meter team to push out your default tariff info to your meter

I've emailed them, and they've responded (within hours!) by saying they'll ask the meter team to push the update through.

It should then update overnight.

Just looked...and it appears to have updated now.   Well the gas definitely has, as that's an obvious difference. (I didn't have all the figures to hand)

So, if anyone's with Eon and their IHD rates aren't right, drop them a quick email.

If E.oN Next is running fortnightly smart meter health checks like Octopus, there shouldn’t be any need to email them:
