Why are people so disparaging about IHDs?

We've just got ours - smart meter installed yesterday (and reporting within 24hrs, we can already see our usage since installation yesterday in the Octopus app). The main thing I'll be using the IHD for is finding out the wattages of things that are hardwired in and can't be measured with the monitor.
For instance I now know the kitchen extractor fan from 'low' (switched off but still always running, kind of its version of standby) to 'high' is an extra 6W. I'd need to turn it off at the isolator switch which requires a ladder to find out how much power it uses on low, though. And it will be interesting to see how much power we're using at any particular point as well.

Me too. The RED was helpful when nothing major was switched on. Husband hadn’t replaced stuff correctly when he put a couple of beers in to chill. Chest freezer lid was slightly open😡QrizB said:I'm another IHD fan who doesn't use the £ display but keeps a beady eye on the kW one

These recent comments are spot on.
Those people chucking their IHDs in the back of a cupboard would have no idea that they were also chucking money away if something was left on.
