Hi all,
Well done @beanielou and @maman on your losses - fantastic!
Ive been in the office today. Took overnight oats, lo lamb tagine, grapes and an Alpen light bar. DH cooked a bolognaise bake and added extra carrots - every little helps!
Im at top end of target range and will need to weigh in on 3 June as will be away the following two Saturdays. Need to rein things in until then. The traybake book looks great - I will buy once the offer finishes. I had a free mag from our consultant at the weekend. Will do the sticky roast pork from it tomorrow night and report back!

@Abbafan1972, its Mornflake Oatbran. Its very fine as you can see from the photo.. When I stuck my spoon in the pot it was a tad stiff, but stirred in well and makes for a really thick yoghurt. It looks grainy but it doesn't feel it in your mouth and no chewy bits getting stuck in the teethWhats Star week?Whats getting you down about the programme ? We had a couple of ladies in group saying the same, feeling like they were wasting their money. And it isnt easy and it is a lot of money esp when you are not getting results quick enough ( kills me Ive taken 5 weeks to get my half stone when someone else gets a stone in 3 ), but I do have a target, and I am going to get there, 1/2 a pound at a time if need be. Tbh if I didn't have this flipping wedding to go to, Id have given up. I really want to look my best in wedding photos, ( its the sons wedding so cant duck them ) Im in for the long haul - Ive got 3 months to get the next half stone off. Obviously Id like another stone, but I gave myself the stone target cos thats really achievable in that time frame. Do you not have an end goal? I mean I am also doing it for health reasons, last lot of bloods were horrendous , but its the wedding photos thats keeping me goingI lost a pound this week, which Im quite happy about.I realised today I haven't filled my planner in for a week and then when I started to, I realised I was eating foods that I thought were free - and they weren't so Ive been well over - oops - back to the plannerWell done @maman , a great job there xxx
@annabanana82 - Lucky you with 2 days in Thorpe Park. Ive spent the morning trying to price up for that, I want to take the grandkids. But OMG, the pricesAny tips on where to start looking for a bargain? I have to price in flights and we cant fly into Heathrow
@bubbs , food looks lush as usualIve been dreadful today, overnight oats at 1 ish, then nothing till 9 when I had two slices of homemade white dread - still. warm from the oven , I defy anyone to resist, pile of salad and a chicken thigh - and crisps0 -
@Longwalker, it wasn't cheap, we opted for two days in the park with a break offer, so it was cheaper to that than book separately. The 2-4-1 offers on the cereal and chocolate bars work out the cheapest option for one day.We haven't really treated the children for awhile so don't mind so muchMake £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

Hi all.@maman I met up with a couple of friends today for breakfast, I didn’t eat much of it as I wasn’t feeling well. I know them both from SW and one of them has now started afresh with a different consultant. The other lady is doing the 5:2 diet.I was thinking of trying calorie counting instead.@Longwalker “star week” is ladies time of the month. With the plan, I just feel really restricted all the time and then I end up pigging out on things I shouldn’t.Not sure what WI tomorrow will bring because we are going pinto Birmingham city centre tomorrow and will no doubt have something to eat there. On Friday we are taking my Mom to a garden centre and will be going for a Toby Carvery in the afternoon. (Can’t wait for that as don’t have one very often).Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.671

@Abbafan1972, well that defo explains the chocolate , Id be the same every month when I still had hormones ( the menopause does have some blessingsOk, I know Im new to SW, Ex WW's in the past, but I dont see where you can feel restricted unless like me you are using your syns on something other then food - mine go on booze, I dont use any at all on food - well maybe about 5 a week - and as long as I plan ahead (some, like sort the over night oats out ) Im doing ok and not missing out on too much - pastry and breadEven just using the HEA and HEB and sticking to speed/protein and the occasional spurge of free, being a F&V dodger usually, Im finding lots to eat without spending a lot extra - I might see something and think Ill give that a try for a treat/change but thats about it.What are you missing out on? whats your flip it ?Weight watchers back in my day was so much more strict, any fat was a no no. No ham or lamb or pork for example , less the portion being so small it wouldn't fill a tooth. Allowed sugar, no butter - well a scrape - but jam was allowed. When every food you ate that wasnt picked or dug up had a point value and only 17pts a day - really really restrictive. I remember living on rice cakes trying to fill myself up, the BIG treat once a week was a McD's happy meal
Go for a curry and you could have tandoori chicken and salad . However the one thing I did like about WW was you earned point for exercise so as long as you got some in - and all that was pointed as well, you could "earn" a slice of cake
Calorie counting works but you also need to understand nutrition - SW and WW sort all that for you. My fitness pal is a great app, if you are motivated and disciplined enough to fill it in daily. My walking buddy uses it and she loves it, it was a tad too complicated for me, but Im lazy, I like the work being done for me. Morning everyone,
Shame about TT - same age as DDad
I tried WW once as Mum is a stalwart WW member. It worked, but then again I had less than a stone to lose (for my wedding). I like SW better as I can have choc every day if I want it - just need to be mindful. I do need to go to group though as it keeps me in check. I follow a couple of ladies on YouTube who calorie count. One is more diligent than the other, who is good one week and naughty the next and comes up with all manner of excuses why! Good luck with whatever you decide @Abbafan1972 x
I am WFH today. DDad gets picked up at lunchtime and we are on our own for a week or so. A friend might pop in later - it's his DMum's funeral tomorrow so he's feeling very stressed and low. May see SIL over the weekend. She's been back and forth to hospital over the last few days. They are trying to get her up to 5st to admit her to a psych ward as wouldn't be able to resus her below that weight. She's 0.5lb off.
Today's food will be:
B - granola, mullerlight, strawberries, blueberries - HEB, 0.5, S
L - poached egg, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes - P, S
D - Sticky roasted pork - new mag recipe - 1.5 syns
HEA - milk
Syns - skinny bar 3 plus 2 so 5 total
Have a good day all.Cross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings0 -
Morning all. Well done to the losers (@maman I wish I could say I accidentally loss more than intended!)
I will hold my hands up and say I am a very loose follower of SW because I do find it made me think quite negatively about food. I find if I focus on eating the things that are good for me, without thinking about syns, HEA & HEB etc. then I naturally gravitate away from the unhealthy stuff like chocolate and biscuits, and when I do eat them then I make sure it's because I'm a) genuinely hungry and b) I definitely want to eat that thing. The hunger thing is the main one for me as I sometimes use food for my emotions. Hope those of you who are struggling get some inspiration soon.
Hope your dad gets his bed in the home sorted soon. My dad was finally admitted last night - had 7 hours on Tuesday having scans and bloods, and then 14 hours yesterday in a chair waiting to be seen by the gastro consultant. I got home about midnight once I made sure he was settled on a ward and all the checks had been done. May have had a few sneaky tears later on in the evening because I felt so helpless and he was so exhausted and uncomfortable.
Not really feeling food this morning so have no idea what the day might hold. My mum has loads of fruit and veg in so at least I know I have options.

Morning all, another warm and sunny day; hoping it stays like this for the weekend. Not sure what the forecast is for where we're going but looks like it's pretty good over the whole country. Got another couple of hours before we'll be leaving as can't get onto the site until 3pm.
Good to hear that your dad was finally admitted to hospital last night @ruby_eskimo but awful that he was left sitting in a chair for 14 hours waiting to see a gastro consultant. I'm not surprised you had a few tears afterwards.
Today's plan:
B - toasted cheese sandwich - HEA2; HEB
L - not sure but have got some crab sticks so will probably just have some salad - P; S?
D - steak, new potatoes, onions, peppers - P; S; F
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - cheese
HEB - bread
Syns - couple of G&Ts or rum and ginger beers - 5 or 6
Have a good day everyone.0 -
