longwalker 🤣🤣@ the ryvita box, have you tried the sweet onion ones there lovely.

Yes Dad will only be there till carers in place for home with Mum, but he did thrive there, as much as Mum wants him home she knows she just cannot manage him and would still travel every day to see him, it's much further for her but she is happy yo do that. Mum said the other day wish he'd stayed there and they said you know he can't stay there , but they do have full time residents .

Have tou tried overnight weetabix, there so much better
BIL's father had to put his wife into a care home eventually, he went everyday to visit with her, for years

BIL and SiL are now caring for him, like us they are lucky. Yes hes old and has numerous ailments same as mum, but still has the wits, same as mine

I have to say, and I know this is so off topic, its really difficult looking after parents. When our parents looked after us, they were young and fit. Now we have a generation of pensioners looking after their parents. I have friends who are looking after their spouse, parents and grandchildren , with very little help if any. Which is why I encourage everyone starting this journey to fight for every bit of help available, before you are on your knees

Weetabix? Are you kidding me??? lol. Thats disgusting

Told you, I have some very very weird food issues. :) Ill not say phobias, just weirdness around food textures. It was just mashed potatoes , now its pretty much all potato dishes. It used to be just custard, now its any type of milky substance, although Im still ok with yoghurt - probably because thats sour? I was really doing ok with roasted veg and feeling so proud I was cooking batches and reaching for it as my speed with everything, then I guess I got one too many courgette bits in my mouth - I cant even think about it now without feeling the feel of that in my mouth. Veg has to be perfectly cooked and lets face it, that never happens, there will always be that one piece over or undercooked. If that ends up on my plate and then in my mouth - dinner is over for me.

Weetabix, the smell and the texture is a defo no no.  :)

Afternoon all, it's a lovely day today with brilliant sunshine and not wind.  No washing needed to be done as that's all up to date apart from the clothes we took off last night!

Got another referral letter from my GP today for electrical tests as my fingers keep going numb and when I phoned to get an appointment it turns out all that's happened is my name has been added to the list and they will be in contact with me when my names reaches the top of the list!  Asked how long that was likely to be and he said it's going to be a long wait!  I said what 3 or 4 months and he replied very much longer than that!  Definitely going to contact Benenden on my return from France to sort that out.

Popped out to the shop this morning to pick up some salad for while we're away and have packed as much as I can into the motorhome; just need to put things like bread, butter, milk etc in tomorrow before we leave.

I jumped on the scales this morning and pleased to say I am now just 1lb over target range!  If I was going to be at home for the week I'm sure I'd be able to shift that and go to WI next Wednesday but as there is fish and chips planned for Friday night and a carvery for Sunday I can't really see it happening.  We've decided we're going to come home on Sunday afternoon/early evening so avoid the traffic as far as possible - nothing worse than travelling on bank holiday Mondays!

Will then only have Monday-Thursday afternoon at home to get the washing done and repacking the motorhome ready for our France trip - really looking forward to that - seems ages since we last went.

@ruby_eskimo - hopefully you'll get answers about your dad soon.  It's very worrying.

@bubbs - how are things with your dad?  Has the care home been sorted out yet?  He'll certainly be better there than in the hospital.

Today's plan (it's a bit of an eggy day today!):

    B - egg sandwich - HEB; P; 3.5
    L - brunch hash - P; S
D - sausages, mash, veg - S; F; 2 (this may end up more syns as DH is likely to say he'd rather have toad in the hole!)

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
Syns - butter 3.5; sausages 2 (will be 4.5 extra if I do the sausage toad!)

    Have a good day everyone.

Yes @bubbs, I do hope that your dad gets a place in that home. He really thrived in there last time. 🤞

I think you're doing well for someone who doesn't normally eat much veg @Longwalker. Do you eat pickles? 🤔I eat loads as they're so easy to add to the plate with omelettes or cold meat/fish. Beetroot is my main one but also cornichons/gherkins and pickled onions. Aldi have started doing pickled red onions which are like the Baxters branded ones.

Good to see the scales moving at last @joedenise. The carvery at the weekend isn't such a bad choice, but probably not the fish supper? 🤣

Now for the good news... I went to WI, lost 2.5lbs and I'm below target! 😁👍 I'm absolutely thrilled with that, haven't been this light for what feels like years.

Ideally I'd have left it closer to my holiday (3 weeks time) but it does take the pressure off. I can have what I like on the Island tomorrow and we're out for lunch on Friday but then I'll get back on plan properly again.

    Today's EE plan -
B- HEB Puffed Wheat, HEA 1 milk
    L- Spanish omelette (P, F, S), ham (P), pickles (S)
    D- gammon (P), chips (F), cauliflower and broccoli cheese (S, HEA2)
    Syns - cornflour 1

@Longwalker What did you use for overnight oats on your previous post (oat bran?).

I have tried all-bran as overnight cereal with yoghurt and it really does dry up.  I have tried weetabix before, but I usually have the chocolate variety and that does make it taste quite bitter.

Also, sorry to hear about your friend.

    I hope everyone is ok.

I am off work this week, not sure what WI will bring tomorrow as I haven't been entirely good, lol.  It is star week as well and I feel like crap.

Still not sure whether to continue to go to group - feel like trying another approach.  I feel like I'm just paying £5.95 every week for nothing.

    Speak soon. x

Well done @maman, 2.5lb loss is absolutely brilliant.  You might even manage to lose a bit more before your holiday!

DH will eat my batter as I don't like it! and I'll only eat a few of the chips and all the fish and will have some fruit in the evening afterwards to make sure I get some speed.  I'm OK with the carvery and will only have one potato and yorkie and a big pile of veg and meat!

Good luck for WI @Abbafan1972 tomorrow.

Thanks @joedenise. I'm delighted, probably the lowest I've been going into a holiday for years, and as you said I will try to lose a bit more but not this week! 😁

I like batter but tend only to eat the crispy top part. It all helps although it's months since I had any. My DH likes breaded fish, so we'll have that soon.

You've been thinking for a while whether it's worth paying every week @Abbafan1972. I suppose it depends on how much you really want to lose weight. You have to have your head in the right place to give it your best shot. There's no magic bullet. Personally, I think SW is the best way as it's healthy food and plenty of it. What sort of other approach were you thinking of? 🤔

Well done @maman on your loss!

I had a day in the office today, thought I'd wear my heels as I've not worn them much the last few years and I hurt now.

    Food today:

    B: overnight oats, 1/2 hex b blueberries
L: subway salad, sriracha sauce 1 syn
D: rice and Vietnamese ish pork mince - onions and peppers. 1 syn

Snacks: 2 digestives 7 syns, chocolate buttons - not sure on syns 🙈 apple

Not sure why I made those bad decisions today, my first weigh in since 1st May tomorrow am, I'm expecting a gain of a few lbs I think. I keep saying I'm going to be good but then have a few little extras. Of course I feel completely bloated today which isn't helping me think more positively. But whatever the outcome I need to be back on plan. Tricky week next week too as 2 days at Thorpe park, and an afternoon tea thing tomorrow afternoon

I'm planning on paying 1 week tomorrow and then the countdown next week as I think there's a free book then??

Hoping to pick up some lemon drizzle hifi's tomorrow
