Thankfully there's an easier way to weed them out on here 😀
  • I never understand why sellers are so keen to force buyers to pay for an item and go to all the trouble of  posting it when the buyer can simply choose to return it - that’s how distance selling works. Even if ‘no returns’ is set this doesn’t prevent a claim of ‘arrived damaged’ or item not as described’.

And it’s really not like shopping in person - things do happen sometimes in the days between bidding and winning an item which simply don’t happen in the short walk between shelf and till

I’d much rather relist an item and block a buyer than force them to accept delivery of an item they clearly no longer want, knowing that they can simply send it back.

Hmmm. Here we have a thread about a buyer who has 100% feedback and is known for being a superfast payer and a seller who wants to send them dog poo because the buyer who on this occasion for whatever reason hasn't paid quickly and isn't communicating. I know who I would liked banned from ebay...and it's not the buyer.
Oh come off it. Did I not already say that wasn't serious? There's always one person that doesn't bother reading the thread..
No you didn't. You said you wouldn't waste money on postage in a second post after you originally said you had their address and was tempted to send them dog poo as you had their address. Soolin is correct about your threatened childish behaviour.

Personally I have had far more problems on ebay with sellers whose items I got a bargain with when I bought them and they refuse to deliver as they sold too cheaply.
In that case there actually are repercussions for sellers who can receive negative feedback and still get charged the fees

Because it would cut out a lot of the BS behaviour of buyers who never have any intention of paying for the damn thing and for which there are currently zero repercussions - buyers bidding on multiple auctions for the same thing, buyers bidding on collection only items they will never collect, bidding on something then deciding they can get it cheaper elsewhere, etc etc

I'm not sure I buy the argument that since buyers can just lie about it arriving broken there's nothing Ebay can do about buyers who take the p.

...yeh like that means a lot! Them losing 50p or so means zilch to me! Two sellers I won an auction on their items in the same week didn't deliver...didn't reply. Both are still on ebay with shops selling dozens of items. The negative feedback I gave didn't get me what I paid for.

I agree. It's not about forcing the buyer to accept a parcel they can just return. It's about forcing them to act with a bit of decency and not mess other people around. When I buy on eBay I pay immediately. You don't get your groceries delivered then forget to pay. The problem with eBay is there is no meaningful deterrent. If they banned people who messed sellers around it would act as some form of deterrent. Yes sometimes calamities happen but let's face it, there's also a lot of timewaster who lack decency too and the odds are far more likely I just got one of those..

Diinozzo seriously perhaps try and learn what humour is and stop being so anally retentive before you accidentally turn yourself inside out. I'm sure there must be a few thousand other threads you can entertain yourself on 😉
Tell me who started a thread on MSE about one single buyer not paying and trashing them for days with no evidence despite them having a previous impeccable ebay record? Give me your wisdom about your previous experience selling on ebay please.

You started a thread as you are free to do...as I am free to reply.

NO NEED TO BE RUDE BTW.

I think it's time you moved on from this.

    Yes, it's annoying.
    Yes, it's time-wasting.
Yes, it's unfortunate that this happened on your first eBay sale.

But it really isn't the ned of the world.
And it isn't worth starting an argument with another poster about.

I think all the answers that can be given on here have been explored.
One last thing though, don't be tempted to leave positive feedback with a negative comment as it can result in a seller strike, and of course buyer just gets another green positive tick.

It is irritating that there seems to be no real deterrent to non payers. I've sent one last invoice but I don't expect a reply and won't be sending another. Once the clock runs out I'll just report her. As I have her address I was tempted to send her a box of dog poo compliments of eBay in recognition of her services to timewasting 🤣
There is very little point in resorting to childish behaviour. Ensure you cancel properly after day 4 and make sure you have your settings correct to block buyers with 2 or more non payment strikes. The fact that if every seller automatically blocked buyers with 2 or more strikes they wouldn’t be able to buy any more, should be deterrent enough.
I have tried to find this setting under 'account settings' / 'selling preferences' but am unable to find it?

There is an option 'managing who can buy from you' but there is no such setting there
