It is irritating that there seems to be no real deterrent to non payers. I've sent one last invoice but I don't expect a reply and won't be sending another. Once the clock runs out I'll just report her. As I have her address I was tempted to send her a box of dog poo compliments of eBay in recognition of her services to timewasting 🤣0

Sending an invoice can reset the 4 day countdown until you can cancel due to NPB, I usually send a polite message through eBay messages on day 3, allow 24 hours then cancel giving NPB as the reason.0

An invoice doesn’t reset the clock . They get plenty though from eBay already as the system is now automated.KxMx said:Sending an invoice can reset the 4 day countdown until you can cancel due to NPB, I usually send a polite message through eBay messages on day 3, allow 24 hours then cancel giving NPB as the reason.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. There is very little point in resorting to childish behaviour. Ensure you cancel properly after day 4 and make sure you have your settings correct to block buyers with 2 or more non payment strikes. The fact that if every seller automatically blocked buyers with 2 or more strikes they wouldn’t be able to buy any more, should be deterrent enough.RhondaD said:It is irritating that there seems to be no real deterrent to non payers. It can only be a deterrent if buyers are aware of it though. And I don't think there is anything that makes people aware of it. |Personally I'd rather Ebay just enforced bids as binding rather than let buyers just play silly buggers.soolin said:

I'm not sure there is any mechanism that would enable ebay to dip into a buyers bank account and take the money for their bid. Non payers are a problem on any 'buy' before you pay sites, even at auction houses some auctioneers moan that they get a healthy bid, from a registered bidder who then declines to pay, at best they can ban them from bidding again but realistically that's all .tightauldgit said:

I'm not sure - they seem able to do it for sellers so surely the same level of enforcement could be used on buyers. Seems pretty straightforward to say you must have a registered credit card and that any bid is an authorisation to charge your card up to that amount. Yes I'm sure a determined buyer who doesn't want to pay would find ways around it, but at the very least setting the expectation that a bid is binding might put a stop to the worst of the buyer behaviour. Even if they said 3 NPB strikes and your account will be permanently closed it would make a difference.soolin said:

I don't know how other people see it but for me it seems to be getting worse - I don't think I ever used to get non-paying bidders a few years ago and now I would say about 10% of the the bids I am getting are either non-payers or junk bids0 -
Obviously I wouldn't really waste postage on a dog turd lol
I certainly agree once you committ to buying it should be binding and at least carry some sort of deterrent. I don't think just being able to block people with 2 or more strikes is the most effective way to weed out time wasters when many sellers won't even know the option exists. It means people like this inevitably slip through the net and can re offend to their hearts content with all the sellers who don't know about blocking them.0 -
Hmmm. Here we have a thread about a buyer who has 100% feedback and is known for being a superfast payer and a seller who wants to send them dog poo because the buyer who on this occasion for whatever reason hasn't paid quickly and isn't communicating. I know who I would liked banned from ebay...and it's not the buyer.1

No you didn't. You said you wouldn't waste money on postage in a second post after you originally said you had their address and was tempted to send them dog poo as you had their address. Soolin is correct about your threatened childish behaviour.RhondaD said:
Oh come off it. Did I not already say that wasn't serious? There's always one person that doesn't bother reading the thread..diinozzo said:Hmmm. Personally I have had far more problems on ebay with sellers whose items I got a bargain with when I bought them and they refuse to deliver as they sold too cheaply.3
