  • Hi,

I watched it last night (sky+) and wondered what others thought?
She was consuming a massive amount of units each week but I kept thinking how much 7 bottles of wine (1 a night my old rate) actually came to.
It was pretty shocking to see the affect of alcohol over such a short period, makes me wonder what damage I've done to my body
Although possibly a controversial point I thought it was quite admirable to put herself through all that for a TV show!

  • Yesterday was a bit stressful for me, so I went out and had a glass of wine and 2 vodka and cokes. Ok, so I have caved, but when everyone was nagging me to stay for more I said no, and it's never taken me so long to drink a glass of wine (1.5 hrs!). It's shown me that if I have a drink, at least I can do it in moderation, and on the 3rd drink I realised I didn't actually want it anyway, so although I caved for one day, I now plan to continue the rest of the month alchohol free and I'm looking forward to another no-hangover weekend!

Back again, and not had a drink yet. Have consumed large amounts of cold medicine though which probably has much the same effect!! I've felt pretty grotty the last few days and spent most of yesterday in bed (when my DD would let me that is!). Mind you, helps with not wanting a drink.
We have nothing exciting planned for the weekend so that should help, both the cold and the booze!

Morning all... Day 12 booze free here..

struggled a couple of times last week as we went out for meals, but I managed to stay on the cokes.

Not feeling any "benifits" yet though... I thought you were supposed to feel great when you gave something up...lol.
I am still my usual Grumpy self in the mornings till the second coffee.

Maybe its too soon to tell...

    Keep going everyone..

  • Well done all of you so far on your drink free month:T
I found this thread a few days into the month & thought I'm too late I've already had a drink, but it's been playing on my mind, I have a drink EVERY DAY, not loads, but at the very least a glass of wine maybe a couple of beers, I think it's habit really, my treat at the end of the day. Makes me feel like an alcoholic, that I have a drink EVERY DAY, but I probably drink as much as friends that have a blow out at the weekend.
So Although I'm too late to join the challenge, I have had 2 days without a drink, drinking apple & blackcurrant squash sainsburys basics, the same colour as wine:D I have had 2 occasions when I have not had a drink for at least 9 months, but that was due to being pregnant!!
Will try my best to keep it up, don't know how well i'll do, as hubby works away & possibly home for a few days next week! but whilst he's away, I will certainly stick to it, I can't promise when he's here:o
Comping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

I've been bad. Bad bad bad! First I finished off me stash from Xmas. Then we had Xmas goodies left over (enough for a weekend) but no alcohol left, so...

Then we got what, well, if it wasn't flu it blimmin' FELT like it. And I'm not even a man! That really wrecked my appetite, even when the worst was over I still couldn't eat. So I tried a couple of glasses of red wine, and that helped me get some food down (excuses excuses).

But I've been dry today, and now I'm recovering (at last) that's it for the month (not that there's much month left!). Still can't eat much, but I won't actually starve.

    Maybe next month...

    Hi wigglebeena,

Ooops poor you! I had a horrible cold(y) thing which lasted about 9 days so I sympathise....I found the only way to eat was to take those cold & flu things every 4 hours otherwise I just felt nauseous....today is the first day since I quit alcohol (1st Jan) that I feel normal. :j
Mind you I've no wine in the house otherwise I'm sure I would have succumbed before now, so well done on holding out so long!
The weekends are the worst, in my world, Friday's without red wine just seem wrong...being sober for 'Friday Night with Johnathon Ross' is painful!
Last night ended up sitting through loads of property shows with my son (he loves them; plans to be rich when he's older!) Obviously alcohol raised my tolerance for watching rubbish telly shows!!
  • Have had a mixed weekend so far Friday night went out with a friend and managed to stay away from alcohol, but last when I got to the pub wine had already been bought for me would have been rude to say no!! Well you can guess the rest im sure......... Headache this morning!!Kids are with me next weekend so that'll stop me repeating this weeks bad behaviour:rotfl: Anyway well done to all of you who are being sensible and staying off the booze. I shall try harder, must say though (except for this morning) am feeling so much better, sleeping well for not drinking as much!!
