ceridwen - you could well be right about Mums recovery being down to 'good vibes' of some sort...........some things will always remain a mystery but I know when she was first ill it was very touch and go..........my son is a great believer in the power of crystals as well as other things and he placed a crystal next to Mums photo and lo and behold, against all odds, she came through. That was 4 years ago and though we've had several 'scares' with her and each one we think is the last, somehow she's managed to fool us all.
My son sent her some crystals to keep in her room along with a 'touch feely' teddy (he's a softie like that) and its strange.........mum was never one to be touched in any way but since she's been ill she's loved a massage of any kind.....hands, feet face and neck...........she even had a session in a jacuzzi............something she'd have never done before. I don't think she ever realised how restful and soothing touch can be until the last four year.
Not quite sure how I feel about reflexology in itself..........I love to have my feet massaged and find it very relaxing..........OH on the other hand would run a mile rather than have anyone go near his feet and on the programme they showed someone having reflexology, the atmosphere of the room, the soft spoken voice and the general feeling that the person giving the therapy actually 'cared' I think might have played an important part in the well being of the client. So, maybe it doesn't matter where we touch, as long as we do.
We must all remember the feeling of safety & comfort holding a parents hand - I know I do and thats about as touchy feely as my family went.

Congratulations indeed! Hope all goes well with you both.

I think we crossed posts last night ceridwen - just saw the link you put on............thanks for that. It's a good one and many of the quotes there well worth remembering and acting on.

Congratulations do it today = lovely news to have. Take care of yourself.

Well, not much going on with the de-cluttering today............OH has gone out, both boys are out and I need a bit of help to reach stuff I want to sort out on the top of the wardrobe in the spare room. Dad's sheet music from 30's and 40's all in a case and my youngest son has recently shown an interest in playing the drums (which is what my dad did) and wants to see some of the music. He loves all the jazz and big band era stuff, his friend is also musical and can read music so who knows, between them they could bang out a memory or two for my Dad.
Ex foster girls birthday today.........she collected her birthday hamper last night, loves it all............now I've a little bit more space in the spare room but not a lot.............not as much as I need..........but I'll grab OH when he comes in and maybe between us we can create some room.

What I am going to do is clear out the plant trough !!! Now I've got my little cuboard all 'shabby chic'd' the candles can go in there. We always have a few candles burning in the lounge in the evening - creates an atmosphere of calm thats often much needed. Then I need to find a home for my brollies.........3 of them - do I need three ??? No..............but I want three because they're varied designs..........and I do have some hooks in a cupboard I could pop them on so there's really no excuse is there................another 'hot spot' in my little haven of a computer room seems to be the bed settee...........currently home to my winter coat, a blanket OH bought me for my chilly knees in the winter............lol, various carves and a catalogue or two..............cat fast asleep on my coat at the minute and who am I do disturb her......so that will wait.

It'll get done but for now its 'me' time, radio on and just me in the house with my thoughts.................

Hi Mary, just a thought, that sheet music , before you pass it on, you could photocopy some and use it as background paper on hand made cards.

Am having great problems today sorting and simplifying my kitchen cupboards. Think I've come to the conclusion that I'd like to freecycle the contents of my home and start again. It would be so much easier than trying to decide what to get rid of
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

ellidee - thanks for that idea. I've used music before but its been pages torn from Mums Yours magazine and dipped in coffee to 'age' it a bit. If I photocopy Dads it will make it more personal on a card for my two sons so I'll do that.

ceridwen thanks for the link.............I'll have a good look at that later.

vivw -know the feeling and saw your pictures............think I'd keep them all..................lol
I've often thought how nice it would be to clear everything out and start again with a blank cheque book at ikea or somewhere then I look around at my bits and pieces and like the fact that they're all 'individual' and so much part of us.
Dishes and bowls we have plenty of (saw your photos !) and when we saw my son the other week what did we come back with ? Another casserole dish......................lol Still sitting in its box........thats how much we needed it. Is there any hope I wonder sometimes ????
