That feels like a generous amount to me.
Thank you, it’s hard to know what is a good amount to have left over as
always been paying debts meaning nothing left over, not far to go on that and will be paid by the time we move in xx well that is the plan!

When you first move into a new place there are always costs setting the place up the way that works for you, it might be a lick of paint or some art or much bigger costs.

Once you have completed your sale and you have some head space it might be worth making a realistic budget and include in it building a decent emergency fund. Remember to also include having fun and making memories, these don't have to cost anything except time but will be rewarding. It looks like it won't be long until you start overpaying your new mortgage 😊

I am quite good with budgeting and our debts are historic from years back when we where young and foolish, we are much more sensible now, and will be moving with £9000 in savings, going to build some pots for things,  we do have them now but I want to build them to make sure we have enough in each one to cover at least one years expenses, I never intend to use credit again unless it’s absolutely essential and has been budgeted for xx

So been busy this weekend moving as much as we can do without as this is DH last day off before the day we move, am ready to go now and just want it done!
DD2 left school on Friday although she goes back for leavers assembly on Wednesday and it is Prom day on Thursday so excited for that, once that’s done I can concentrate more on the move.

We have an office monthly review on 3rd of July and I am starting to get a bit anxious about this, it’s never happened before in the past so this is a new thing and feels like a lot of pressure on me and the team as it’s a harder market than it has been in the past!

surveyor is booked in for mortgage valuation on Tuesday, I will be glad when this is done, the company the lender is sending are renowned for down value one properties so now I  worried about this, obviously the less we pay the better for us but if it’s down valued and the sellers won’t budge we would have to bridge the gap with the money we have set to a side for house renovations, only time will tell I guess!

hoping to get exchange on mine this week although with solicitors these days they usually like to do it same day as completion

catching up on some TV don’t watch much these days x

  • I was just in your diary to see how your packing was going. Its all going very quickly for you, I'm sure the valuation will be fine, don't they normally just do drive by's to check there is actually a property to mortgage.

I'm watching the F1 at the moment, its a bit of a boring race today though!!

@outoftheviciouscircle DH is an F1 fan although I think his love of it has subsided slightly since Lewis no longer wins every time, we have it down to just the qualifying and the race we used to have the practice and then the highlights and also maybe a second watch of the race at one stage as well 😳

it all depends sometimes it will just be a drive by, a desk top valuation or a physical valuation, ours is a physical valuation and will only take about 20 minutes should know by the end of this week.

no further forward in debt payments but CC3 normal payment will go out tomorrow so can update my book, will get back on track next week I am sure

currently watching maternal on itv x it’s not bad so far

  • Morning - have just read your diary. Congrats on getting a completion date - ten days til you move if nothing goes wrong ;D How exciting! Send some of that fast completing energy my way - my sale/purchase are DRAGGING.

FWIW I would LOVE to have £1400 a month spare for spends/savings/holidays etc. We have about £140 spare, if we are lucky.

Hope your DD enjoys Prom <3

Thank you so much @foxandflowers for stopping by and reading, hope it wasn’t to boring a read!
I will be glad when it’s Friday and the prom is over! As lovely as it is you know it’s just a lot of very expensive stress!
my buyer rang yesterday and has sent her money to her solicitors so I am hoping for exchange early next week.
Thank you for your comment regarding the spare money, it’s the main thing I am worried about that if the kids need something would I have enough and also after a life of having nothing but debt debt and more debt 💸 I really still worry I will end up back there again, probably stupid but money really frightens me and I try my best every day to make good decisions. Even now we are moving and it’s definitely happening I still question if it’s a good decision, with interest rates and the cost of living rises.
My little dog is currently sat looking at me so I best see what it is she’s after!

  • Not boring at all!

My eldest stepdaughter missed her prom thanks to lockdown and is still upset by the fact. I remember mine fondly - all the silly little boys that had bullied me suddenly wanted to dance with me when I put on a nice dress and had my hair done haha.

I absolutely know what you mean about money frightening you - I always try and make good decisions. Don't always manage it, but the thought is there :)
