agile is very fiddly though and a high risk strategy. Maybe tracker would be a better compromise solution.0 -

It's just not appealing to some people, who are hesitant to "novelties" thinking they may be tricked into something or expected to put a lot of works into it to save few quids a year.
Average electricity bill for 5 bed in UK is £1300, and with Tracker you would expect to save about 30% - so it's "just £400", less than £40 a month.
But there is always some risk the prices could sky rocket and saving will vanish.
Agile is completely different tool, you need to actively monitor prices, shift habits to make it work.
The best approach is to convince someone already with Octopus to install Octopus Compare app - and compare their SVR with Tracker, Agile and clearly seeing how much they would be better off by switching - and knowing that they can leave anytime Agile, or in 30 days Tracker.0 -
You absolutely don't have to shift usage to benefit from Agile, although you will save more if you do.

Hardest hurdle for me was to agree with my wife that we shift washing machine to cheaper rates. We already have solar and battery storage, but she liked to run the washer and tumbler whenever it pleased her, which on a dull day might mean the battery is emptied very early, eroding our cheap energy.
But, she has been very eager to save even more money and now we charge at multiple times per day whenever energy is cheap and run the washer and dishwasher in the very cheap moments of the day.
Got to admit though that agile is an obsession.
I have been known to discharge my battery to make space to charge more at the cheapest possible time zone. Amend the settings on my inverter sometimes three times per day. Charge up for 30 minute intervals.
its a whole load more fiddly than E7, and whilst I appreciate the last week has been exceptionally cheap, I never in a million years expected to import 70kwh in the past week at a cost of only £4.01.
I’m happy to be obsessed if i can make a decent financial saving on my energy bill.Next project: time solution for the tumble drier and electric shower.3 -

I still haven't been billed on my Agile account (£70pm dd) since late October, so sent this rather shirty message to Octopus -
"Hello - I can see that I still haven't been billed since last October!
My account is £254 in credit and in a week's time it will be over £300 in credit. This is ridiculous
I'm not getting a statement either, so can't see how much I'm actually spending
I've raised this with you more than once, and taken to supplying manual smart meter readings, in case the billing issue lies with the meter. But obviously not resolved
Your billing should be a smooth, transparent process
Get a swift and permanent resolution please, otherwise I will escalate this
Thanks"
NOTE - I do have an idea of how much I'm actually using/spending thanks to an independent app, but I should be able to get this from my Octopus bill/statement1
