Octopus Agile

I don't know if there is a reliable way of comparing Agile with other tariffs forward looking (for more than the very short term)
No there isn't.
For example, this time last week no comparison site would have known that the US was going to war with Iran and disrupting the oil & gas markets.

That's me warned, don't update the app until it forces me to.
Back half of next week onwards looks decent for wind on emoncms, just depends on what happens in the world for the prices we actually get.

What then is the use that you put Compare to if - used as a forecaster of rates - so little trust can be put in the data?

There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -
Compare only "forecasts" up to 31 hours ahead and that data is reliable as it is actual pricing from Octopus.
Predictions further ahead come from different tools that use renewable generation as a guide, but this is only one variable that feeds into wholesale prices.

I've turned off auto-updating in the Google Play store. I note the last update was 19th May 2024, so I probably won't miss much.

I made a judgement call and made a last second switch to the non-exit fee version of 12 month fix - march v1.
now I think maybe I've made a mistake?! The agile prices aren't that baad
have I messed up?0 -
Not necessarily. There are unlikely to be significant price plunges over the next month, so you can see how things play out and switch back in April. There is also EDF FreePhase Dynamic where I am currently headed. On my usage, it has only been pennies different than Agile when prices are 'normal', but tends to be less harsh when prices spike.
We also still have to see what April's changes mean for various tariffs, so it could be all-change again in a few weeks time.

thanks
well supposedly I can't go back to agile for 6 months. Although the bloke who took my call said 'there are ways'.
I've been on agile since September and before that was on tracker since 2020 - so hopefully they will see I'm not taking the mick!0 -
It used to be 30 days and I've not been informed of any changes to the T&C. What does clause 1.3 say here?
Tracker has its own 9 month clause (2.9.6), but Agile does not. The 6 month figure you've been quoted seems to have been pulled out of thin air.

that's really good news. 30 days is fine. It's something like 25.6 til April then 21/22ish.
