Octopus Agile

It's worth remembering that for most of its existence, the Agile tariff has not had a premium standing charge and it is only through the recent drop in sc for pretty much every other tariff that this situation has been created. I don't know why Agile was not updated, but perhaps at some stage it will be (I know they have repeatedly stated on Twitter 'no plans' etc).It is this combined with me using much less in the warmer months that has led me into a fix rather than using Agile. The premium varies by region, and my premium is not the highest (7p), but it's still enough to just about tip the balance.1

Not changing the s/c wasn't much of a reward for those who stuck with the tariff when the prices went crazy high, they should be heading towards a zero s/c on ToU tariffs as avoiding the peak(s) helps out the Grid, or would if enough people had the incentive to switch. More than a year on Agile and some habits, such as not turning on the TV until post 7pm, have stuck even though I am on the 12mth fix.1

Grudz's extensive comments prompted me to finally do an Octopus Compare exercise update. Briefly, there were some small savings in favour of Agile in the shorter periods. However seen in the "year" = 7 months context, my 14-mth fix tariff was better to the tune of £5. Overall the point comes where the net savings over time are not sufficient to induce me into switching into a variable tariff such as Agile where the latent penalty of "getting it wrong" can be so severe.Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know1 -
With the Octopus referral, when does the 12 months start?
I "left" them 2nd Sep 24, final bill issued 16th April 25, credit finally refunded on the 21st May.

I don't think you should be considered a customer after your supply moved. But they make the rules and I don't know what they'd say.Just to confirm, you've received 2 x standard of performance compensation amounts for failing to issue final bill within 6 weeks and failure to refund credit within 10 working days of final bill?1 -

I automatically received the £30 (old rate) for final bill not issued. Nothing for not issuing refund within 10 working days.
I did chase them up, but told the delay was because of how I put credit on my account. There were about 100 £1 debit card payments (this was done to get bank bonuses) they did process some of the refunds on the 15th May, but that that is still outside the 10 working days.
What did annoy me is that they just kept the £30 late bill and the £150 WHD as credit instead of paying it direct into my bank. They also precessed those as refunds, but I don't feel that they are actually refunds. ( not that it makes a great deal of different, but did make a bit).

I "left" them 2nd Sep 24, final bill issued 16th April 25, credit finally refunded on the 21st May.But I left in April 2024. I received the final bill in mid November 2024. Then I rejoined in March 2025.Because it was less than 1 year I didn't think I'd qualify, so I didn't put a referral code in at first but at the bottom of my Octopus profile it said if I had a referral code then I could still enter it. So while Octopus were still in the process of switching me over I decided to enter a referral code but I had little expectation. However when they emailed that switchover was now complete, to my surprise 3 days later I received the £50 referral.Of course me receiving the £50 referral within a year of leaving was probably just a one off fluke.1 -
I've not been keeping an eye on Agile predict recently, does anyone know how accurate it's been?
(I'm thinking particularly for next Sunday, prices are currently predicted to be not as cheap as I would have expected going by the emoncms forecast.)0 -
Looking at emoncms, we're in for a cheap bank holiday as supply exceeds demand0
