D is distribution costs, why are we charged a standing charge on top ?
The distribution costs are a per-kWh value charged by the grid. They're separate to the standing charges.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. OK, understood. Interestingly this page https://electricitycosts.org.uk/electricity-bill-charges/ says that the distribution charge is higher for 1100-1400 and 1600-1900 and zero for 2300-0700. The Octopus "premium" is only applied for 1600-1900.QrizB said:

ive been billed upto 1/2 on agile then from 10/2 - 23/2 on my fix , but the 1/2 - 10/2 is completly missing (agile)
should i be getting in touch with octopus0 -
It's happened to me too. I'm guessing that's how Octopus deal with split tariffs. I'll wait for my Feb bill at the beginning of March and analyse it thennorthernstar007 said:help someone

I did notice the end reading was estimated but I'm not going to worry if it's out by a small amount1 -
Exactly the same here - I did ring about the estimated bill but didn't get anywhere. Also sent them up to date readings for both electricity and gas which resulted inn them billing me for the gas and ignoring the electricity reading! My usual bill is due tomorrow so will be interesting to see what it comes up with ...RavingMad said:

I had this happen last year when I moved from Tracker to Agile in February. About 10 days of Tracker was missing. It got added to my bill in about June or July.

Looking at the predictions, and knowing that traditionally March and April are expected to be months with more wind and sun, we’re looking at jumping back to Agile from tomorrow I think. While there are still looking like being some issues with the 1900-1930 slot being higher than SVR the balance across the rest of the days will hopefully negate that… Any views on this welcomed!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I stuck with Agile
a few rough weeks but last week i used £19.78, compared to 16m tracker 2025 tariff which would have been £29.46
the month is showing £120 vs £1281 -
March my Agile standing charge leaps a mighty 10p a day as the 12 months ends on lower s/c, April s/c goes back down so will have to switch out and then back again unless Octopus do an across-the-board downwards s/c change, which is probably unlikely. Might have a try on Cosy even though I don't have a heat pump. Overall Agile has been good with a couple of inconvenient weeks when I had to cut usage as well as time-shift, no complaints against Octopus as such and the variable direct debit is a relief after the constant BG hassle of trying to increase the DD every other month - you could literally waste an hour on chat battling it back down. The end of government freebies does mean I have had to use my own money to pay for my low usage and outrageous, albeit now falling, standing charges.0

There were some decent savings made last week on Agile but not so much this week. Compare app tells me I'm paying just over 19p/kWh this week.0
