I've had my DD set to £1 and kept paying by Chase 1% cashback card on the day the bill arrived. Never had a balance over £5 with them.
How, does that work? Do you have to phone them each month?
You can pay by card online, IIRC.

Yes, I load my account using a credit card just prior to each monthly bill for cashback.

It's just that I couldn't see the option on the app; it's just showing me DD top-up.

Chase wont know what's happening to that money, so I suppose you could transfer more and credit the excess to your bank account. Is that fraud?

I suspect if you were routinely overpaying then asking for credit back, it would only be a matter of time before Octopus were looking to change your payment method back to a standard fixed one!

I understand some have played that game. Not only would Octopus probably intervene, but Chase has reportedly warned users about abuse of the system when playing around with certain card fronts that allow transactions to be reallocated between different cards to get cashback from two providers. They would probably do the same for cycling the same funds around for cashback.

Yep, not fraud but money recycling - at some point you'll be banned by someone.
Chase or any other bank may just close your account. Job done.
I've also seen a case when someone was recycling big £ and they were stopped with money freezed under a fraudalent investigation for nearly 2 months - missing credit card payment date and ending up paying interests, destroying credit score.. risky game  :D
