I've had my DD set to £1 and kept paying by Chase 1% cashback card on the day the bill arrived. Never had a balance over £5 with them.

I get cashback with the direct debit from Santander

They've never tried to change my DD payment, even though it's been at £10 a month for quite some time.

When I go onto the portal it did suggest £55 a month, but never forced me to set it to that. Not sure what it says these days as I've not looked for a while.

I might need to bump it up to £20 in the new year to cover the 2025/2026 gas bills.

My solar export payments have pretty much covered the electricity import and SC over 12 months.
PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)
  • having been conditioned by EON's behaviour I expected a protest when I reduced mine to £50, which is less than the monthly bill now that it's cold. It had been 70 all summer and then 90 the last 2 months because I thought I'd have used more by now. Instead the 'request refund' button reappeared having disappeared after I had a full refund at the start of the summer.
  • bit pricey tomorrow not good
  • Better Friday onwards for a good while hopefully

I do exactly the same for my electric but do pay £10 a month on my prepay gas which has built up a bit of credit now that the standing charge has dropped to below 30p and is more or less all I'm paying for

Deep seated hatred of Scottish Power and all who sail in her - would love to see Ofgem grow a pair and actually do something about it.

I'm trying to work out who I can go and visit... although at least there should be enough sunshine to keep the battery topped up. I just won't be doing laundry or running the DW, or eating hot food...

My export MPAN should be active tomorrow, so the sunny intervals may save the day.

How, does that work? Do you have to phone them each month?
