    Hi @VXman ...

Me and the wife have a couple of unused TSB accounts and we have a JIONT Halifax reward account. The fact that you can get £175 for switching a dormant account to an existing account is a no brainer so I will do that.

However, if my wife wanted to switch her TSB account I assume she we need to open a NEW Halifax account? Will this work or will they class her as having already done a switch as I have used a joint account?

Or would it be better to ignore the joint account and open a new one? Not sure I want to do this - that will mean funding 3 Halifax accounts. Not sure I can be bothered with the admin of that.
... reading the T&Cs looks like you could have 1 joint and 1 new sole account, both attracting the incentive, switching into the joint first.
  • I’m hopeful Lloyds start an offer soon, I wish to return to Lloyds. Halifax I’m afraid to say seem very rude when I visited the branch, can anyone advise if they have found Halifax to
    be good or bad?

    Im aware Lloyds own Halifax!
Looks like you've just missed the boat there as Lloyds finished doing a £200 (minus a £10 fee) offer about two weeks back, so I don't imagine there'll be another one on the table for a little while yet.

For what it's worth I've always had good in branch experiences with Halifax, for regular banking needs probably the best out of all bank branches I've visited - That is much more likely simply down to the staff at your local branch though, I don't think it would be very relevant to look at the quality of service from just one location and try to apply that on a national scale.

I did like the service from Virgin Money, it was all very polite and personal although didn't really feel like I was visiting an actual bank. It felt more like a place that just happened to offer some banking services as there were no other customers during my visit and I was offered a seat in a nice big armchair to wait while the teller went off elsewhere to deal with my request (quite a different experience from before they "merged" the Virgin Bank branches with the Virgin Money Lounges).
    Moo…
  • I still have trouble with any bank where the staff are wearing corporate sweatshirts. It's also troubling that in my local RBS branch some of the male staff are not wearing ties and are permitted to remove their suit jackets.

They are great for me, as I never have to visit their branch. 😂

Yes it looks like I will have to put up with Barclays or switch without a reward.

I was a Halifax customer a long time ago. My experience of them was terrible. Stone faced staff.

Just to add on this, I have today activated my online banking, there is £175 in there. My switch is not due to complete until 23rd.

anyone with a switch date on the 23rd not had the incentive?
told a couple of friends about this. one has been paid today (before 9am) and one hasn't (so far). applied at the same time, switching from the same bank (separate sole accounts).
i know its actually very quick to have been paid already but the partner is getting twitchy :p
