Bank Switching question

I'm new to this bank switching business but feel I have done very well since switching to First Direct in January.
Since then I've created several dummy accounts and managed the following by often switching balances of £0 then depositing whatever is necessary to qualify.

£175 - First Direct
£200 - NatWest
£250 - Co-Op (referred by my father who kindly gave me his £125)
£200 - Lloyds
£125 - TSB with £75 more to follow

Total should be £950  B) and I also just missed out on another £200 from Santander.

I'm treating this all as a one-off as I'm presuming my future opportunities to switch will be very limited.
My question is, does this switching business happen every new year or has this been an exceptional year due to the rise in interest rates?

    £200 - NatWest

When are the next chances if any likely to be ?
  • You can do RBS as well. Same process as Natwest ;-)
  • Hoping Halifax launch an offer soon, haven’t had a bonus from them.

Can you do both? I was under the impression you could only switch to either NatWest or RBS? 🤔

Hi, they don't seem to talk to each other.  I got switching bonus from the Royal Bank and Natwest and waiting on Ulster Bank to pay me too.  At the end of the day, this is the bank that nearly brought the country to it's knees, so claim everything you can.  It was your tax that kept it from causing another run.  (I just wish I had bought the shares when they were 19p!)

Yes, I got one from RBS in 2019, Ulster last week and NatWest (hopefully!) next week. Though if they decide not to pay you the offer as under the T&Cs they don't have to, you just have to suck it up.  :'(

    First Direct x 1

    RBS x 1

Lloyds x 2 (first switch was before the time limit set for second switch)

Nationwide x 2 (first switch was before the time limit set for second switch)

    Barclays x 1

    Virgin Bank x 1

Santander x 2 (first switch was before the time limit set for second switch)

    Halifax x 1

TSB x 1 (got the £125 switch in December and will get the £55 stay in June).

    Ulster x 1

    Co-op x 1

    NatWest (in progress)

I also have a switch back to First Direct in progress, though I know I won’t get the bonus again (they're far too diligent) I hope to get the £30 Amazon voucher via Uswitch and to open the Regular Saver Account.

I’ve also received non-switch bonuses for opening credit cards with some of the banks (£50 Amazon voucher from Santander comes to mind as well as a bunch of Nectar points from Sainsbury's bank), and referral bonuses (£5 but better than nothing) from the likes of Monzo. Also £55 in bonuses from the Raisin savings platform. ;)

I opened an account with the co-op beginning of February.

This morning I tried to to switch to RBS but got the message 'unable to switch as you current bank is not signed up to the switch deal'  :/ maybe it is because it is a new account as my father switched from the co-op to NatWest last week although his co-op account is years old.

So then I try to switch to Ulster but cannot get past the find a branch menu! No matter what postcode or town name I enter I get the error no branches found. Awful website.

Is the bank you're switching to RBS from part of the Current Account Switch Service? Not all of them are.

I don't remember having to choose a branch when I applied to Ulster. They just assigned me the one nearest to me.

Are you aware that Ulster bank branches are in Ireland. When it asked me to select one during the application I entered Belfast and picked.one of those.
