Advice MIL died without leaving a will

Totalling all costs from either side how much are you looking at versus what MIL house sold for?
Sis-IL is going to drag this on as long as she can, which is why I would now call her bluff and say all costs out of estate before 50/50 split.2 -
I'd definitely want to see some "proof of estate funds" ASAP.
Ask (again?), outright, "please can you let me have a copy of an up-to-date statement of the account(s) holding the money".
All this delay and foot-dragging is one thing, but there would be little point in going "full legal" and getting a Court Order if there's nothing left*.
What assets did your SiL have, before all this? Own her own home etc.
*Could such an order force her (adult?) children to return any gifts made "illegally", if she has just gone and done what she wanted to do all along? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -
It's a year today since you started this thread. Please tell me there's a satisfactory outcome either already happened or on the horizon. @paul2louise2

@Spendless still waiting on whether costs are being included or not3

I'm sorry @paul2louise, she's just laughing at you now. Hubby has been and continues to be far too soft.
I genuinely hope that you reach a satisfactory conclusion, however, I fear that this story does not have a happy ending....0 -

Generous application of boot to nether regions required. All the best....1 -
@paul2louise your hubby must have the patience of a saint!! I would have been round her house months ago demanding my inheritance and not moving until I got it!! Sincerely hope he gets what is rightfully his before too long.1

Yes he does have a lot of patience after all he had me to put up with 🤣5

Are you able to visit? Notice anything obvious about possible spending that's been going on?How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -
Hasn’t the OP already said the funds are in mil’s account which her husband still has access to hence can see the balance? Perhaps the latest accountant is trying to close these accounts (finally) and sort the tax position?0
