I just love the Frankie Howard bit!!! :D

OP, it's pants that you and Mr OP are having to cope with this but once it's all over (and it will be eventually) you can dine out on the sorry tale forevermore....
I just feel how horrible when 2 siblings have reached this point in life. How my MIL  would feel knowing how ridiculous it is. I lost my bro when he was 30, 18 years ago and even tho I miss him badly and wish my mum and I we had more time we will alway have our happy memories to hang onto. My husband has lost all that now.

Yes, it's desperately sad isn't it? I do feel for him. It's well nigh impossible to imagine they could ever really find a way forward after this even if she was willing to cooperate (which I fear is unlikely based on her current behaviour).

It might be sad but it’s not unusual. Some of us are unlucky and have siblings who are difficult. Mine sends vile abusive messages on a regular basis. You can’t choose your siblings so I certainly wouldn’t be worrying about what others might think or what might be lost in terms of relationships. The situation is as it is and you have choices. Compromise if you recognise faults on both sides, or compromise simply to bring it to an end, or keep arguing.

My sister & I argue a lot.  Like an hour in each others company is the longest without words being said.  But I would never try to do her out of even a penny that should be hers anymore than she would.  I think it is really sad that this should have happened, because it will be very hard for anyone involved to come back from.

    Any progress @paul2louise ?
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

It's been very quiet since last correspondence and hubby is feeling slightly positive that things are being sorted hopefully as no further moaning and lying emails have been sent back..
    So fingers crossed 🤞

So, no sign of any of the money yet either?     If they do concede to what the estate includes, and the splits that need to be adhered to, surely some money should be forthcoming soon.    Have you not even had an interim payment?

How long is your solicitor going to give them to keep "prevaricating about the bush"?     This thread joins the timeline in MARCH ... we're now nearly in December.    Probate was granted in 2020, yes?

What's the next move, and when?

I have to ask again.   Have you or your solicitor actually seen PROOF that the funds of the estate still exist, or at least your 50% of the funds (if they've already had the benefit of their 50%).   Have you had eyes on a bank statement.

Are they earning interest and trousering that too?   £200k at 5% over just the period of this thread is a not insignificant sum.

(by "you" I mean your husband)

No sign of money yet. I think we have skipped the interim payment. I am not sure how long solicitor is giving. This new solicitor has been a lot better at getting things moving. We were stuck with previous solicitor for too long.

I don't know if solicitor has seen bank account proof. The bank accounts unfortunately are not gaining interest. I agree the interest is significant. I will check with OH what he plans to do next regarding his solicitor.

Hope I am not wrong if it’s gone quiet, maybe she has not seen a solicitor, and is ignoring the problem.
No I said on previous post that she had a solicitor and they had written. So OH is going to contact his solicitor today to see if she has any updates
