Just sold the second child's sleeping bag. So that's another£5 in the uni fund. It's not building very quickly. Need to list a few more things to helps funds and to free up space.
Dh has listed a couple of books. Next it's walking boots that are to small for the dc.
In other news we splashed out and bought an air fryer, been holding off due to cost and space in the kitchen but after dh got a refund we made the decision so I'm attempting roast chicken and crispy new pots with salad. I do how that it works. Quite adventurous for our first proper air fryer meal. Fingers crossed!

feeling rather flat and deflated today. Spent £55 in the garden centre yesterday and bought 2 hanging baskets and some bedding for a few pots and out decorative wheelbarrow. They look lovely and I normally buy some bedding plants, but late this year as Ive been putting it off, but feeling like scimping everywhere is too much just now. ALso bought a couple of items of clothing. Plus the air fryer, although DH bought that.
Now to reset and look to ways of making a few more pennies. I need to increase my pots esp the EF but I also need to work out a good steady way to increase my pension as I barely have one. Having always been self employed, its always been the thing I need to do, but avoided. At least i have now begun a pension, but its needs serious imput if im to get anything back, even a small pension.
P.S. the roast chicken in the air fryer was good, the crispy new pots not so ~ need to try a diff recipe and see if a tweak ot 2 will improve them!

Gardening is so expensive! I feel your pain on garden centre spends. We have done well this year as we have been given a few from my in laws and some vegetable plants from friends. In the past when we have had more times, it’s been charity plant fairs, car boots or village fetes where we have tried to purchase them from, but obviously you don’t get any guarantees about what they have.

How are you finding the air fryer? Have you tried more recipes?

Your pots are increasing nicely and you are so close to the £1000 that I’m sure it won’t be too long before you are there. I hope you find something to help with the pension pot. I can’t recall if you said, but have you looked at the bank switching offers? I wish I had started mine at 16 when I had my first weekend job, but I just didn’t know anything about them then.

Hi Shineyhappy ~ we have worked hard on the garden this weekend, and have finished 1 bed and the path that runs round it. We have alot of garden to garden and alot of space to plant more so theres less room for weeds to come up!! I must try and find some cheaper places to buy them. Im quite good at finding plants growing somewhere in the garden and splitting them up to replant elsewhere!!

The air fryer is nice, but it is sort of how I expected, not big enough when we have 6 and if you have to cook in batches then really might as well use the oven. But, having said that I do like how it cooks. Definetely need to find more recipes to try!!!!

I have done 2 bank switches this year and i dont think theres any others aplicable but ill double check. Ive also got 2 of the DC to do a swap, its such easy money!

morning, phew its another hot one today. I seem to be slipping off the savings wagon. Keep having to but things/ shell out for stuff. So some of my pots have been raided!! Its also coming up to by expensive time of the year, renewals for subsrciptions and insurance for the car which I try to pay annaully. However I have in planned out so I save across the year, so at least by next year itwill be easier!!
Had a bit of annoyong news yesterday. DD1 who is off to uni in sept was hoping to get uni halls with GF and rent a twin room (£77 a week) but they have been turned down beacuse GFs course is on another campus and so she will have to find halls in the city centre, DS1 can also rent halls in the city centre. BUt there are no shared rooms there only single on suite. at £187 pound a week. eek so the rent bill is now looking likely to be £8228.00 instead of £3000 the city halls are also 44 week leases rather than 39. So the student maintance loan of £5600 is not going to go very far!!!!!!! ~Will need to seriously work on that uni fund!! and DS1 really needs to find a job!

Oh no that is a lot extra to find.

Is DS looking for a job? I hope he can find something suitable.

I saw there was a program on air friers the other night and will watch that on catch up. There is only the two of us so might be easier. Do you use a slow cooker at all as we use that for doing batch cooking?

I have never been brave enough to try splitting plants or taking cuttings, our rhubarb is huge so will Google doing that at some point.

Hope you are having a great weekend

Hello, sorry for delay in replying, been a bit hectic over here! DS is sort of looking for a job, hes basically been sitting in his room for a year! His mental health isnt very good and Im sure a part time job would actually help. However I think now hes 20 nad has not had a job will go against him! Hes applied for 10 or so but not got anywhere ~ yet! theres still time to wokr for a few weeks, so im still hoping!!

the air fryer is great for bacon, not so keen so far on chips, and I had high hopes they would be better than oven chips! I need to try a few different ways and see if I can improve them! DOnt use slow cooker v much as my autistic lot are v fussy and dont like food touching. So bunging it all in together doesnt go down very well. I still do it sometimes, but not often!

As for plant if your got a plants thats doing really well and is nice and big, my view is it cant do any harm to try and take a cutting or splitt it!! defienetly have a go!!

Sorry been awhol!, had numerous expenses to sort out and not enough coming in! Plus a week ago my poor pupster decided to chase a pigeon and flew out back the door, which he alwys does, but jumped and landed badly and broke all 4 metacarpals in his front foot. To put it mildly the last week has been rather sh*t!!
Poor pup is finally settling into his new routinue ~ of doing nothing!! he had surgery and is in a soft cast, thankfully drugged up to reduce the chances of him jumping. He is only a year and a half so still a pup and he does like to jump up!!! he hates the crate and so im am having to sit with him consantly to make sure he does'nt jump! ~ it's exhausting!
Off the vets tomorrow to check the foot is healing, so fingers crossed. and roll on another 5 weeks when he can walk properly and maybe even jump!!
