Too windy to walk here dia, so I did some light dusting, swept the downstairs floors and made a chilli in my slow cooker 😆 Leftovers portioned up and leftover over gammon sliced & all in freezer. Leftover roast chicken for lunch today with veg & gravy.

Was just drifting off to sleep last night when there was a loud bang. Checked the windows and doors and managed to get back to sleep. I’ve looked out in daylight and the car & fence look ok at the front and the sheds & garden fences & bins at the back. Will go out later once I am dressed and check the roof is still in place!

Have checked online banking & current balance now £192.54.
    Petrol £30.  (10/40)
    food £102.54
    entertainment £50
    Phone sim £10

    Savings pots

    car £650
    holiday £200 (spent £100 holiday 1)
    Diy £336
    gas & electric £74
    annual bills £231
    xmas / birthday £134

The mse energy club is back up and running so I will have a look at that later. I am on a variable tariff with no smart meter or direct debit so will see if there are any decent fixes.

Off to see my friend this afternoon for a cuppa and chat. Lino fitter on Monday and aqua fit on tuesday. Have 2 birthdays this month so I need to check my card stash & stamps.

A busy month, try not to overdo it and get the micro heat pad out.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
  • It’s been very mild the last few days and the heating has mostly been off apart from 20-30 mins in the morning to warm the bathroom & dry my towel after a shower.

I’ve had a look at energy & there is no tariff that would make enough difference to make me want to tie in for 12 months. However they are predicting another drop in the price cap in July followed by rises so I will look again in July.

Saw my friend yesterday for cuppa and chat and we have arranged to go for lunch on Tuesday. Looking forward to that. 😊

Always good to read your news and updates. I am hoping that in a week or so we can switch off the heating for the summer. I am probably being too hopeful lol!

I have given you the honour of my 1000th post!  :)

Agree with your energy assessment re price cap SYA - we are the same use wise with heating at the moment. Haven’t even needed to light a fire to take the chill off in the evening!

    enjoy your lunch tomorrow 😊👍🏻

Thanks SQS 😊 not sure where we are going for lunch, maybe ‘spoons. Cheap & cheerful.

The lino fitters have been and my kitchen floor looks fabulous ☺️ Paid them £45 cash from diy pot. DF & his neighbour are going to put my washing machine back tomorrow while I am out. Aquafit in the morning.

Thanks @thriftylynny 😊 Unfortunately aqua fit was cold today and some of the exercises triggered back pain so I got out 10 minutes early.

Went and picked up my friend then drove to nearby little town. Had a lovely lunch in cafe & pot of tea £11. Came out and it was pouring with rain and gales.

Also bought 2 x seat cushions for my cast iron chairs b n m £8 each & 2 multi packs of pork scratching, total £18.50.

Got home and my washing machine and fridge are back in place under my worktops in the kitchen, however there was a big puddle of water by the back door ☹️ DF came round and we worked out that the water was coming through the door 😳 The rain must have been beating so heavily against the door with the gales this afternoon that you could feel the water seeping in through the upvc window joints in the door and see it running down the door. No rain in the top of the door or bottom of the frame. Dried with kitchen roll & have had to do it a few more times since but no more puddle on the floor. Hopefully a few dry days will let it dry out & then DF is going to seal it from the outside.

Oh no SYA!  It has been so windy and horrible though. & DF to the rescue 💪🏻👏🏻- worth his weight in gold that one.  Glad you were able to work out where it was coming from and that it’s fixable without too much expense.

Thanks SQS 😊 my house definitely keeps DF busy bless him.

The puddle was just in front of the door and thankfully not from the washing machine or ceiling (flat roof extension) and we could see the water running down the door. Also grateful that the guys who fitted my lino yesterday sealed round the edge with clear mastic  stopping any water getting under the lino & on / under the wood. 👏
