Sya, thanks. I'll do a bit more research. I had a rate with 4.15 but it was variable and because the interest rates reduced they have cut it. It's an isa , so not sure if it makes a difference. But it's my own fault, I usually only choose fixed. And to keep it as an isa I will have to transfer. It matures in June so might just leave it and move it then3

Tresinia there are 1 year fix ISA’s over 4% but I don’t know how they work with transfers. Have a look at the weekly mse email which comes out every Wednesday for updated best rates
No snow or ice this morning. We are supposed to have snow showers starting soon. I cannot drive far in snow when it comes towards the windscreen so I have decided to stay home this weekend & go to my sisters next weekend when it should be all gone.I’ve booked aquafit this morning so will be leaving shortly. I will call off at asd@ after & get some black bean sauce for a stir fry to use up peppers, courgettes & onions and the last of the roast chicken I bought on Tuesday.Off to my friends tomorrow for cuppa. I cannot seem to get a better price for house insurance with the same level of cover & excesses so it looks like I will be renewing at £215 (down from £239. Last year was £176 so up £39. Lots of cheap quotes after I finally worked out % of flat roof/how far away from water/ type of locks etc but not matching cover.❤️Mum 2018

Sya how did you work out the % Of flat roof? I also have to do this every year and just guess🫣3
-
I just said my main roof has 3 sides (end terrace hip roof) and kitchen has flat roof, all approx same size, so 4 sides = 100% so like you Tresinia I guessed (25% or 1/4) 😂
edit to add current policy 25% but new quotes only giving option of 20% or 30% so I said 30%❤️Mum 2018

I used the defra magic map to work out the distance from my home to the nearest watercourse (stream). I used their estimate for my contents as I don’t have any fancy expensive items & their estimate for my rebuild costs.Aquafit was cold 🥶 Ceiling still leaking in ladies changing rooms. The building is owned by the council so it might be quite a wait for it to be fixed. 🙄❤️Mum 2018

Had a lazy day yesterday apart from a walk to my friends for a cuppa. No snow but despite the sun the pavement was still white with frost so I walked very slowly and carefully. Called off at dads on my way home, checked the heating and emptied the dehumidifiers.Today I am staying in. The bedroom is 13.5’ and the heating is on. I am going to try not to eat all day today. Gammon will be in the slow cooker this morning. Wheat bic & warm milk for breakfast, soup for lunch and gammon with cauli cheese for tea. I have a new book which was a Xmas present and haven’t been able to concentrate enough to read it yet, so I would like to start reading it today.Plans this week
mon - sadmin. One form to complete & a couple of phone calls. Food shopping.
tue - maybe aquafit if I can face it potentially being 🥶 I’ve struggled to get warm after last sessions. Friends for cuppa and cake in the afternoon.
wed - brunch at spoons with my friend & browse round £ land & b n m
thu - flowers to garden of remembrance & lunch with my niece and little lad 🥰
fri - not going to aquafit will hopefully pack up and go to my sisters❤️Mum 2018

Sya, your week sounds great for a winter. I used to have a friend who lived nearby, we used to have tea and cake every week but I lost her during covid. I miss that, so make the most of it, so precious 🥰5

With all the ice and frost around I thought I'd just mention ice grips for shoes.
I bought a pair a couple of years back when we last had lots of ice where I live, but only used them for the first time this week. They are fab! They were only around £5-6 and this week I've been able to confidently stride around with no worries about slipping.
The only downside is they do sound a bit noisy but I'd rather than that having a fall!5
