Sya, good plan to get rid of sharps at the GP's. I plan on getting one of these,  do they have to be disposed of in special container? Good news about diabetic check,  shows your lifestyle is doing you good !

Thanks dia, jwil and Tresinia 😊

Tresinia there is a yellow small sharps box but it depends on where you live whether you can get one from your GP or chemist or council. They also sell them online. You may need to look up sharps collection for your area or you may be able to get your GP practice to dispose of them. The strips can go in the bin here but not the sharps. I am diagnosed diabetic so it may be different if you don’t have a diagnosis.

I have been and ordered the stair carpet I saw online £5.99 a square meter. They are waiting for delivery then will come and fit it. They are coming out tomorrow to measure up. I am also having heavy duty underlay. Once the carpet is in they will ring me with a price and arrange to book a date for fitting.

Also popped in the range and bought some primer £11.99 paid from diy pot. I also treated myself to a pretty glass vase for my bedroom, crackle effect with peonies on it £5.99 for my silk flowers (replacing a glass jam jar 😂 ) and a picture for the hallway just outside my bathroom door. Really sweet with 3 turtles on canvas £8.99. Both will be covered by part of the excess in this months budget.

Home for lunch then left DF undercoating the step at the top of the stairs and went to aldee. I still have a fair bit left from last week so this week was £25.83 including 50% off swede 31p and 30% off strawberries £1.04

    This week meals will be

tinned mackerel in tomato sauce mashed on toast
    tinned tuna & salad
    bacon sandwich
    bacon & egg
    weetbicks

beef curry with butternut squash & chickpeas
    somerset pork
cajun Chicken tray bake with courgette, peppers, onions, butternut squash

    in freezer -
    several main meals
    butternut squash soup
    spicy parsnip & carrot soup
    stewed rhubarb

I have my sight test tomorrow which is free due to my diabetes. Glasses are not free. I will look at their frames but I may go for the deal with a different company mentioned in this weeks MSE Email which is 2 pairs for £14. I have bought online from them before. Also noticed a zero exit fee gas & electric deal from ed f which is cheapest this week if anyone wants to check it out

Sya I will check out the sharps thing before I buy a meter then. Not considered that before so glad I saw your post.  It sounds as though your house is really becoming a home! Love the image of 3 turtles 😍 2 pairs of specs for £14 sounds a proper bargain.  I've heard the online specs are good but never been brave enough to buy without trying on first

crackle glaze vase with peonies sounds real pretty SYA - is it at all transparent?  If so you could put a battery op timer candle in it during winter for a cosy effect -   J vsk do decent price faux candles for £1.50 which take 2x AA batteries -  mine is almost 3 years old still going strong.

Your nest feathering has me looking at all the jobs my house needs doing but I’m too lazy to organise any of them at the moment 😬 - so I will have to live vicariously in admiration of your efforts 🥰

Lol Suze it’s DF’s efforts you need to admire 😂
Funnily enough the “vase” is a candle holder

Tresinia I understand what you mean about trying glasses before you buy. This particular company used to send frames to you to try on first but that has stopped. I’ve tried some in store after my eye test and have chosen a pair of every day distance glasses and a pair of sunglasses on buy 1 get 1 free.

Carpet man has been and measured up so just waiting for call from the store when it has arrived so I can pay & book in for fitting. Will then rip up the old carpet and paint the skirtings before fitting.

Thanks Suze I bought the flowers years ago down south and brought them here with me in a hexagonal jam jar salvaged from DS’s gf. 😂

I love deep pink and lilac / heather / lavender colours. My bedding and photo frames have similar colours, my bedroom furniture is white and walls / curtains/ lamp shades / headboard are pale grey. I’m not sure what colour carpet I will eventually put in my bedroom. At the moment it’s sage green. I have 2 large boxes that I use to store my shoes / sandals which are green with flowers similar in colour to those in the photo

13 October 2020 on my previous thread  Can you tell I’m bored tonight 😆

I also had a look at soft furnishings in the range yesterday. Lots of lovely things. I’ve been looking online at a vase of peonies for my bedroom, the cheapest for £5 and the expensive £26 (next). I salvaged a glass jar from DS’s gf a couple of weeks ago, I don’t know what was in it but it is larger than a jam jar and has a lovely hexagonal shape. In the range I found a vintage bouquet of 3 deep pink poppies & 3 pale pink peonies for £3.79. Just the right size & look lovely 😊
