  • That's good news about the code. How much do Voy charge? I used medexpress for my first 2 orders and then pill sorted for my most recent. It's such a pain you have to keep switching around to get the best deal

The first pen was £120 via a discount code, the second has cost £89.30 thanks to the £50 off code they automatically give you if you click on the button that says you’re going to leave as it’s too expensive + 30% referral code. I’m hoping someone else will use my code for discount off next month too as it will be £199 otherwise so I’ll have to shop around if not. I will say the app and support programme is brilliant. It’s structured each week with different topics and works on recognising different signals and education around nutrition and psychology of eating etc. There is a progress tracker and coaches you can seek support from if you need it.

I had quite a productive weekend with cash and coins banked, a couple of things returned for refunds and three bin bags of clothes and a piece of furniture taken to the charity shop. I did buy my Mum a pretty jumper in the charity shop for £4 whilst I was there which I knew she’d like.

Today has been one of those days, a large portion of it spent in A&E with DS who it turns out has broken a bone during a sporting match at the weekend but the ex didn’t bother to seek medical attention when DS was in his care. Not for the first time either. DS came home with an obvious injury, so thankfully I managed to get time off work at short notice to take him to the hospital. He’s now strapped up and not to play sports for 6 weeks which he is really not happy about. He also confessed afterwards that he’d hit his head hard in a tackle and then felt dizzy afterwards and had headaches at the weekend. Again, his father failed to tell me or get him checked out. This is why I can never relaxed when DS is with his father.

DS’s £100 savings for his trip has been sent to the premium bonds account. I’ve decide to keep it in there and gradually add to it. YNAB has been updated with the weekend’s spends as I had to pick up some groceries and OH and I met some friends for a few drinks and food out. On Wednesday I should find out how much UC I will receive this month now that the savings have gone down. At least I will know roughly how much I will receive in a normal earnings month. I won’t receive any next month as I will receive the back pay from the pay award which was recently agreed and it will send my earnings over the threshold. I’ve not worked out how much the back pay will be yet but any extra will be gratefully received and put to savings. I’m determined to end this payday month without a credit card balance to pay off so all of my wages will be my own!

  • Did you have the headaches checked out with his doctor too? That can be the most dangerous of the injuries - even more so than broken bones.

He only told me after we'd returned from the hospital so, yes, we had another trip back there to get that checked out too!
I agree, it's such a worry and I don't like him playing if I'm honest, but he is determined to continue as it's his father's passion and I think DS feels like he would be letting him down if he stopped. He'd also get a lot of strife from his father about giving it up. I have reinforced to DS that it's his life and he should follow his own passions and do what he loves, but the ex is a narcissist and puts himself before all others and I think DS is trying to win the ex's love and attention by trying to be good at the thing the ex loves the most. I find it all very sad.

  • It makes me sad that he is trying so hard and your ex is just pressuring him with no regards to DS thoughts and feelings. Must be so frustrating for you. I hope he is OK and not in too much pain.

Thank you Sarahwithlove, I just hope DS grows to see it for himself. He defends his father a lot at the moment so I can't say too much.

Just checked the UC account and I'll be receiving £59.71 on 10/11 - about what I'd estimated. I'm not sure what pot it will go into yet, but I'd like to try and get the House/Car maintenance pot balance up to around £1K as it's usually drained by the early part of the year after I've paid the car tax, insurance and then MOT in April. I also pay the house insurance and breakdown cover etc from it and would like to use that pot as a house and car emergency fund too in case I need to replace anything. It would also be nice to eventually be able to pay for home improvements out of it, such as redecorating or replacing the radiator in DS's bedroom. I am considering splitting my backpay between that pot and the gifts pot as it's DS's and OH's birthdays in Feb, so always expensive just after Christmas. I'll make a decision on that when I get paid.

My next injection pen has arrived today and refunds from other items mean I have about £40 saved towards the cost of the next one. I will need to shop around for that one though as I doubt there will be any more discounts from V0y. I'm not sure how I go about switching providers but I'll look into it.

I shouldn't worry too much as they always do realise.  Fortunately mine was only 12 when it dawned on him.  But the very fact that he is feeling the need to actually defend him is a good sign.  I have never forgotten the sight of a boy in DSs class when 8 walking behind his mother giving her back v signs.  That is what his father had taught him to do.  Next to that nothing seemed quite so bad.
