People that post to say "thanks for this&quot

my vent had nothing at all to do with manners - I could not agree more with politeness being free.

my point was based purely on practical grounds - please read the original message -

to recap:

1) These messages will undoubtedly take up disk space, and this may eventually effect the chat rooms performance.

2) Also, it renders the 'last updated' functionality pretty much redundant, when last updated is a comment to say “thanks for this”.

Actually I sometimes get a bit huffed when I see a 'new' next to a thread I'm interested in but when I click on it the only 'new' bit is someone saying thanks :-/
I don't get much thanx - then again I don't give much good advice. ;D
A pm saying thanks to the person who helped or gave good info would solve the problem - gratitude shown but no unnecesary posts. And I quite like getting pm's - someone taking the time to thank me in a personal rather than public way is nicer IMO.
But I prefer fudge myself though
