I get the impression they want to prioritise getting everyone of Tax Credits as soon as possible so as to stop HMRC being involved (other than for Child Benefit).
Yes, I believe they're aiming to move all TC only claimants during the upcoming tax year. They want to end HMRC involvement by March 2025 at the latest.

Free school meal transitional entitlement was recently extended to March 2025 too.
When you say people on tax credits only in tax year 2023/24 does this include people on contribution based ESA?
No, not for you, as advised on your other thread here. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6439443/migration-to-uc-can-someone-look-at-my-figures-please#latest contributions based/New style ESA are not part of UC. Your ESA will be deducted in full from any UC entitlement

Thanks, so will my contributions based ESA be affected by savings over 16K after we are moved to UC?

No. As advised on your other thread, it will remain the same.

There is no map as such. (not one that's published anyway).
DWP 'Touchbase' (not currently published, email subscription only) has the following on the further expansion of managed migration:
"From April we will be expanding to Avon, Somerset and Gloucester. We will expand further in May, bringing onboard East London and Cheshire."

  • This doesn't give you what areas are next on the list, but for those interested it does show the breakdown of UC and legacy benefits for each area,.

It's not even being done by area as far as I can see. I was given notice to migrate two months ago, but I've got several friends nearby who are also still on tax credits who haven't been given notice (yet).

"Managed migration of UC to roll out in Greater Manchester, East Yorkshire, and the Humber from June 2023."

"In addition, DWP confirms that it plans to roll migration out to every GB region by September 2023 and to every jobcentre by March 2024"

I've not seen anyone on ESA Support group been contacted as yet, seems mostly tax credits.
That's because those claiming ESA (unless they also claim tax credits) will not be invited to apply for UC until at least 2028. The Government changed it last year.
    ESA to UC migration
The government is pushing back the forced migration of claimants from income-related employment and support allowance (ESA) to universal credit (UC) to 2028.  It was due to be completed in 2024, with an impossible target of 2.5 million claimants being moved in that year.

Hi Poppy, yes I've been reading the legislation paper that was released, there's also a section that states we remain committed to ESA contribution related clients so by the time it becomes lawful or points made unlawful a lot could change. Hopefully those who are worried can stop stressing for now.

Those claiming Contirbutions based/New style ESA will never be migrated to UC anyway. Only those claiming Income Related will eventually be migrated across.

But I've already been warned here about commenting on government/DWP policy.
