  • I have two jumpers that are really baggy now - but are really comfy, brought them both at the same time - they are about 14 years old.

I have several suits that must be over 30 years old now, and a coat and a raincoat of the same vintage, and a couple of dresses: all remain in excellent condition. I also have a couple of pairs of shoes that cost an arm and a leg in Russell and Bromleys when I bought them, but since they must also be around 30/35 years old I can't complain about them for the price. Since they are pretty standard court shoes, they have never gone out of fashion, but they are unusual colours (one a deep emerald suede, the others a georgeous rich purple suede and kid) so don't get worn as much as brown or black might:)

I also have a lace blouse, which my mother bought me for a party when I was about 16:eek: That makes it 36 years old, and it is still in good condition, but then again it has only been worn a handful of times. More alarmingly, I have two pretty flowery smock dresses, which my friends daughter wants because they are now "boho" (confused smiley) which also date back to the mid 1970's:o

I've got fur coats that go back to the 1920's as well: not that I wear them, but I can't somehow bring myself to burn them either:o

i have a berghaus fleece that i wear almost daily, its like a comfort blanket (particularly when i get stressed at work)
i swapped it for a green fleece with a friend when we were about 16, not sure how long he'd had it but that must have been 20years ago or so.
OH couldnt believe it when the zip went last year, i had it replaced as i just couldnt bear to part with it!

  • i have my bridesmaid dress from when i wore it as a toddler so about 25 yrs ago its currently sitting on my suitably vintage teddy, neither of which will be parted with... needless to say unfortuently the marriage it was for hasnt lasted as long as the dress or the teddy!:(:o

  • My leather jacket that I bought in San Francisco when I was 14 is old enough to buy it's own beer! - 19 years this summer - and although I'm not so much of a rocker these days I still wear it fairly often. I wore a pair of docs for 16 years that eventually fell apart that were fom the same era of clothes taste!
  • I have an old blue zip up cardi that I bought in 2002, I don't wear it out but when the weather is bad I cosy up with it on the sofa. It's the warmest and softest thing I own. (except for my dog!).

I inherited some cotton nightdresses from my mother, she bought them in the early '90's, I've had them since 2002 and wear them all the time. - perhaps this is why I live alone!!!!!

I have a grey school jumper - complete with Cash's nametape - and I left school 42 years ago! Also the dress I wore as a bridesmaid at 16 (which still fits, though I haven't worn it for years!) and the matching shoes. I also have a black oilcloth-type mac - also complete with nametape - which I had when I went to tech college and still wear from time to time because it's the only properly waterproof mac I've ever found. Oh, and a smocked and embroidered dress which my mother made when I was about three or four which I can't bear to part with. ( I can't still get into that one!)
