A skirt that I was given by an ex boyfreind for christmas when I was 16, I'm 26 now.
I still wear it and It's now come back in to fashion!0 -
A jumper I still wear bought in 1993.
In the family we have a school pinafore bought at Mothercare for my husband's cousin when she started school. She is now 29. After she outgrew it, it went to her younger sister then another cousin, then it went out to Canada for another cousin. They don't wear school uniform there usually, but hubby's aunt used to put her daughter in it occassionally.
As my niece was too tall for it, it remained in Canada and missed out the original wearer's daughter, but came back in time for my own daughter when she started school nursery. I had a compliment about it from another mum who thought I'd found a designer vintage-style supplier.:D I then passed it on to the next girl (the daughter of the 2nd wearer). There are no more girls in the family (yet!) so it stops with hubby's cousin till it's time to pass on.0 -
The oldest thing in my wardrobe is an imitation Mink Jacket. I used to love wearing it for evening functions.
Now however, I just dare not wear it, not because it is not stylish but of the reaction from other peeps as they used to accuse me of wearing real Mink!
The stares you get are very embarrassing. It is now covered with proctective cover as I can't possibly part with it, although my dd has threatened that when I am gone she will put it in the wheelie bin! As long as I am not here to see that happening I really dont care, but told her she should keep it for posterity! You live..You learn.:)0 -
I've got a pair of silver platform boots that I got as Christmas present in 1973.0

I own, or rather look after, a family heirloom in terms of clothing. My son of 9 and daughter of 23, myself, my father and my grandfather all wore the same baptismal gown. It is stupendous piece of work, hand sewn by a great great aunt in the finest lawn with amazing embroidery. It is hugely long but so fine you could crush it and hide the whole gown in your fist. Not exactly wearable clothing by me, but very well looked after over many years. Each generation had to be baptised younger than the last to fit into it! Even now I occasionally have to unpack it and have a look.0

Was trawling through my clothes a couple of days ago - found lots of old favourites and hopefully with sensible eating will be able to get into them again soon.
Actually found a dress that my mother made for me to wear to a friends wedding when I was in my teens - must be 40 years old or so. Also a black and white stripe dress bought from C&A which must be about the same age. My daughter actually borrowed this to wear to a 60's theme night.
Got me wondering am I the only one who keeps clothes for this long? I would add that they are still in excellent condition.0 -
I have a black, woollen winter coat that I remember buying for my first ever job interview in 1987.
I wore it yesterday for a family funeral. It still looked good:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
