...  but I guess nobody has received any cashback yet ... considering they permit themselves to change the eligibility as it goes, who knows what we'll end up with  :(

Still shocking - no M&S food or B&M inclusion!
I used a Barclaycard in an M&S food hall. When I click on the transaction in the BC app it shows the "Business Type" as "Grocery & Super" - the same as transactions at Asda, Sainsbury's and Morrisons. On that evidence, I believe that the transaction would have qualified for cashback had I used the Nationwide card.

Why? If Nationwide and Marks & Spencer haven't agreed a discount arrangement, it won't happen

I don't believe Nationwide has agreed a discount arrangement with any specific supermarket. If they had there would be a definitive list. They are believed to be using the Merchant Category Code allocated by Visa to determine whether a transaction qualifies for cashback, but they don't know which MCC is used by retailers like M&S who sell both food and other goods.

So some M&S transactions may qualify, but there's no guarantee.

I wonder if it's possible to pay for clothing at the food hall tills?

Although Nationwide have been rather vague about the details of this offer, there is nothing to indicate that the cashback is funded by anyone other than Nationwide (members) themselves.

Yes it is but anything more than a pack of socks will generate a serious outbreak of tutting and eye-rolling from the queue behind you.

Yes I think it's funded by a pot of money that is saved from not increasing their savings account interest rates.

I think it quite possible that this is a co-promotion

There are various prepaid debit cards that offer cashback at certain stores. I doubt that this is funded by other customers of the card system.

Nationwide said they had allocated £99 million for this and reserved the right to stop the promotion once the money was gone. Doesn't sound like they are getting support from anyone else.

There's no evidence of that though.

The only thing we have in the form of evidence (so far) is Nationwide's comments about their £99m pot.

If it were a co-promotion then I would expect that to comply with the law there would need to be greater clarity over which stores were included (you can't just say "Get 5% when you shop at M&S" if only selected stores are part of the deal) and the retailers may also have to apply the statutory exclusions (e.g. baby formula etc).

"You can view the cashback you've earned online using our Banking app or Internet Bank."
Has anyone been able to view the cashback? All I can view in my statements are the supermarket name, date and amount. What am i missing?
I earned more than £3 cashback in March but have had no text. Has anyone had a text confirmation of cashback for March?
