Slightly off-topic: for all the people who've been complaining about B&M, note they accept AmEx (which has various cashback cards) and AmEx currently has an offer of £5 off of £20 purchases at B&M.

Had the accounts for a number of years - I presume rules were different back then.dealyboy said:

I’ve used my Flexaccount to buy Tesco own brand Gift Card in store and used it to buy petrol in Tesco petrol station, it did freak the cashier out a bit and was told sometimes they work sometimes they don’t.Bought Waitrose GC.Topped up Iceland bonus card, every £20 put on the card gets a free £1 added from Iceland.Used card in M&S food hall by mistake as I don’t think they are in the scheme so later replaced that amount in my NBS account to keep it straight.I put £220 in my NBS account on 1st of the month then I know exactly how much I need to spend to get £10 without boring adding up as only use it for the promotion, with £20 cushion so don’t go OD.
Having to wait 6 weeks after the end of the month in question to find out what qualifies and what doesn’t is quite clever of Nationwide as it encourages you to overspend as is the “I wonder if M&S food hall counts as a supermarket’ type confusion.
And at the end of all this I could be a whole £30 better off! Quite like it nevertheless 😊1 -
I don't think nationwide limit the number of accounts you can have (OH and I already had joint flexaccount and flexdirect when we opened a new joint and sole account each last november) but there are limits on how many flexdirects can qualify for interest. That might be what you are thinking of.inkydolphin said:

Sorry, I know this is slightly off topic, but started as obtaining 5% cashback on more than 1 account to asking whether one can get 5% credit interest on more than 1 account.savergrant said:

... Right I've looked into this, searched the website, read the product terms pages and the T&Cs, googled for references to multiple or more than 1 FlexDirect accounts. I must declare that I have 1 sole FlexDirect and 1 FlexAccount (did have 3).
1. "hold no more than 4 existing sole or joint Nationwide current accounts"
2. "If you’ve had a FlexDirect current account before, you won’t receive the 12 month credit interest offer or the interest-free overdraft offer again. However, you will get the offer on a new joint account, as long as you have not shared a FlexDirect account with that person before."
I cannot find any reference to being limited to 1 sole and 1 joint account FlexDirect from Nationwide, but I can see that being mentioned on a couple of blogs, so it seems to me that one can have up to 4 FlexDirects (checks permitting).
1 can be a sole account and 3 (or 4) can be joint accounts with different (binary) partners ... have fun

I am sure this is not what Nationwide intended so it would be a loophole.dealyboy said:

Virgin Money had a loophole that allowed people to open dozens of accounts paying 1% on up to £1,000. They eventually closed off that loophole.0 -

To be fair I don't think I have ever seen anyone pay with Amex at B&M. Almost all cash in hand at my store!0 -
Asda and sainsbury's both do Christmas savings cards similar to Iceland bonus card but pay out bonus in November. Now is a good time to topup using nationwide debit cards.Yorkshire_Pud said:I’ve used my Flexaccount to buy Tesco own brand Gift Card in store and used it to buy petrol in Tesco petrol station, it did freak the cashier out a bit and was told sometimes they work sometimes they don’t.Bought Waitrose GC.Topped up Iceland bonus card, every £20 put on the card gets a free £1 added from Iceland.Used card in M&S food hall by mistake as I don’t think they are in the scheme so later replaced that amount in my NBS account to keep it straight.I put £220 in my NBS account on 1st of the month then I know exactly how much I need to spend to get £10 without boring adding up as only use it for the promotion, with £20 cushion so don’t go OD.
