  • Bank account still surviving. E fund still 100 and some DIY done. Gonna be a tight month but the idea is to plod on and debts go down slightly. Might even update the signature again. DH still getting a monthly letter to pay off one of his dmp debts at 50% but can't do. Ah well. No rush. Got to get back on track first

Just de-lurking from reading your diary and wanted to say, you are doing ok. Just keep plodding, you will get there in the end, That's how I feel about ours. You say DH has had a letter to settle a debt at 50%, tell him to ignore it and wait....ours started off offering 50%, we are now getting offers of 70% discount, which I hope we will soon be in a position to accept. The ones we have already settled, we were actually allowed to pay over a 6 month period. Don't know if that's something you could do. Anyway, I will try not to lurk too much now and comment more often.

Nice to be getting the offers, even if you can't take advantage yet.  Mine still have only ever offered around a 10% discount.  I live in hope!

Thanks for de- lurking. Hopefully yes maybe he might get offered more. Would be nice to drop below next barrier. I was doing well but last six months so hard to be motivated. In this and general with cost of everything. It's far better than it was and we will be debt free way before we retire which a few friends I fear will not be.

I settled one with PRA but it was unenforceable so more incentive there.  I used to think that, but considering how many years I struggled on with fees and interest being added to the balance every month, I have already paid the original debt many times over, so I feel no qualms about going for an offer.

Privately I feel the same transfer fees, never know whether people gonna think I'm cheeky when I say it out loud. about 8k of the original debt was the difference between our wages and nursery till the free hours kicked in when we had the twins. Kids are 8 and over and I'm still paying for the flaming nursery  aren't I..... Once his two dmp d bts are gone that's the nursery bill paid lol.

It's crazy isn't it.  Nursery fees are so high.  I'm sure there are people out there that will judge, but once the debt is sold on, the original company has made their decision they don't want to wait for the money, and we don't have that same relationship with the new buyer.  We know they are making profit out of the debt even if they accept an offer.
