Also possible job vacancy at work which I'd have a fair chance of getting. I work 28 hrs. This would be 37.5. hrs and after childcare I would earn an extra 20  quid a week. And obv work longer hrs. I need to have a think, do I go for it. Is it worth it or do I look again in a couple of years when no childcare to pay for.

    Congratulations on the pay rise!

Great news about the TFC accounts as well, that will be a nice saving.

With the childcare, we always took the opinion that it was worth the struggle as we knew eventually we'd not need the childcare and would be better off.  DH didn't want to stay at home, so if I left or reduced my hours, it would be a struggle to get a similar job when they were older.

The decision for me would be how easy would it be to get a job at that level in a couple of years?  If they come up regularly I'd be less inclined to hurry now, but if it's rare then I'd go for it.  You could always go for it and make the decision later if you are offered it.

Thanks jwil that's really what I needed. An outside viewpoint to say what I'm thinking but being clouded by. There's no saying I would definitely get the job but if not many apply(short advert) I would. Work colleagues are saying I should apply. I'm band two this is band three and is a twelve months seconment. Extra 20p an hr. Same job in theory wouldn't come up that often but similar jobs at the hospital site would.
My good earning/career job I left when twins were born as cost of childcare and three under five meant it just couldn't happen and dh say he couldn't be the one at home. The pull is my current job is term time only and the kids are very used to that. New job would mean breakfast and after school club five days a week and holiday clubs. I'm leaning towards saying thanks but no thanks. It's a lovely opportunity but a lot to sacrifice for twenty pounds a week. And like you said in a couple of years when I have three that can walk to and from school and be left for a while till I get in

If it's a 12 month secondment, and then you go back down to your current level, that would be something else to consider.  Is it worth all the hassle for that short period of time?  Alternatively, how useful would that £80 odd a month be in the short term.

It's not an easy decision, but I'd go with whatever your gut is saying.

Thanks jwil.the 80 pounds would be very handy but the elephant in the room is that could easily be eaten up by extra petrol, buying dinner from shop cos I've been busy and not done a shop/been properly prepared etc. I'll leave it I think but just take the nice feelings of everyone at work saying I'd do a good job as a nice confidence boost.

In other news finances remain naff but all three childcare bills paid via tax free childcare. So savings made. Yippee. I was honestly thinking they would never fix the issue in my account.
    V relieved now

Have had a fairly low spend bank holiday weekend. Bought some.bunting and 3 mini flags for the kids to wave about- 4 pounds in total. Not overly sure how fussed the kids where by the Coronation but we watched it on TV and therefore took part in a day in history. Four pounds could have gone on debts but I thought let's not be humbug let's just buy some flags and waft them about. :)
