E fund still intact, new budget plan done based on current wage and new bills. Just ensuring debts tick over and aiming for some money in all the relevant pots before I target any of them. Food Is definitely an area we are overspending/unrealistic about so I will continue to track. Small Tilly tally made today to Xmas fund.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Another tiny payment to Christmas fund and time in the garden. Not much else to report. Trying to have low spend days or just shopping costs. Thankful for the lovely weather but our boiler appears to be having hissy fits and running at constant. Not sure how long that's been happening as it's coming on during the day when we don't need it. I've attempted to reset the thermostat courtesy of you tube so fingers crossed it rights itselfJan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Hope so. I've changed the batteries and this is the second time I've done the reconnect thing. Such a pain I really don't want to pay for any heating in this weather. I'll give it at couple of days and see. At least we are worried about it being on as opposed to broke in the cold
on the plus side I'm off so I can keep checking it.

The childrens savings budget, what is that exactly?
Personally I would cancel the tv licence, I know that may raise eyebrows but for now it’s £13 extra in your pocket a month, not to mention I begrudge paying towards the vile entity that is BBC.

The idea is it's savinhs for when the kids are older, either to keep or for driving lessons etc. I used to put two pounds a month away per child and was aiming to up it to five pounds per child (Not much I know but also not necessarily needed at present)
My TV licence was paid annually. I rarely watch TV so it's a possibility to not renew when it's due. Dh watches but as long as we avoid BBC channels we are okay aren't we?Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

The TV licence thing is scary to some people but in reality, more and more people are cancelling every year. Once in a blue moon you may have a guy come ask about it, you don’t even have to answer the door nor let them in nor disclose you watch live Tv.If they point out the aerial on the roof, tell them you’ve got milk in the fridge but doesn’t mean you’ve got a cow in the garden does it.Childrens savings while is a lovely notion, financial to me at least is something I’d direct towards debt and budget because once you’re debt-free, you’ll be able to pay a whole load more into their savings then.2

Our aerial is inside our roof so even better.! Yes and point taken about the kids savings. It's that age old decision to try and hammer the debt or be in debt and still live within reason cos it's not gonna be a quick fix.
Already the whole soa needs changing due to changes in the budget and income. It was a projected one from sept when our childcare will drop by a third. I will do an up to date one soon but will wait for the NHS vote to see what my wage will be. In the meantime we've stopped paying for football and I'm tracking my food spends better.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Paid the rest of the childcare and school dinner costs due before payday and Tilly tallied so accounts ending in zero again. Another week off school, no planned activities and needs to be a low cost week. I have 50 quid in the food budget to last till Friday then 150 per week for the next two weeks till payday. Hoping to use less than that as eldest has grown again and can't get in his pe trainers. He let on he's been doing PE in his school shoes(trainer style) so whoops as I didn't know and eek that's something else to buy. I have money in bills account but might try and find some from food budget too.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213
