I'm with Octopus who, after I emailed them, said that I needed to apply via the Govt link.
I've just taken a look and they need receipts of the fuel - in my case coal and wood. Unfortunately I only have the last coal one and it's not over £200, and nor does it have our address on. The wood we paid cash for, and we never asked for a receipt. (We collected it ourselves as it worked out cheaper.) The coal I sometimes collect from the coal merchant or buy top-up bags from say Aldi. I don't know what I can do. I can't remember when the coal was bought to even ask the coal merchant and the invoices are hand written chits so don't even have our names on. This extra £200 would be an absolute blessing. We don't have any central heating or radiators, just 1 coal fire in the front room with additional portable electric heaters as a top-up. Our last electric bill was over £420 for the month! (We have an elderly dog who isn't in great health so we have to keep the front room warm, even if the other rooms are freezing cold.)
    Any ideas guys?
I'm in the same situation as your good self and presumably countless others. The AFP portal only deals with actual detailed receipts for wood or other alternative fuel purchased after September 2022 (from memory).

I've written to my MP who has promised to look into it.
If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.
If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.

Well I've just received £200 into my bank account marked AFP. No email received as yet.

I submitted two pre September 22 invoices, one was dated 2021. I tend to only fill up annually.

There's hope that sense prevails for everyone that topped up last summer

  • I rang the Govt AFP helpline who said that the coal receipt with no address on would probably not be accepted, and nor would shopping receipts where I've purchased coal. I save all year to buy wood and coal for winter time. So, I have spent what I saved for this last winter and don't huey have enough saved to even buy more before the end of May (AFP deadline.) I've written to my MP explaining there's a flaw in the system and can he help. If I buy anything that could potentially be an issue (whether food, electrical item, electricity bill etc) I keep the receipt. But once food is consumed and coal and wood burnt, I get rid of the receipts.
