Hello,

I received a parking ticket issued by Smart Parking for an 'offence' dated 18/12/2023. The ticket shows a vehicle of the same model and colour of mime but it is not my car. I have never been to Reading in my life and there are some visible difference from the car in the picture and my car. The differences are:

Different car rims

Different front grille

Windows are not tinted in the picture

Numberplate does not show dealer name (mine does).

Also the PNC does not state why I have got the fine?

Please can you advice on what do do? Thank you

Just use this to win easily

this is an appeal by the registered keeper - No driver details will be given. Please do NOT try the usual Group Nexus Trick of asking for driver details in order to get around the fact your NTK does not comply with POFA. As there is no keeper liability then liability cannot flow from the driver to the keeper and thus is an auto win @ POPLA. Please therefore cancel the notice or issue a POPLA code where you will auto withdraw

I think you need to report this to the poice and get a crime number. You want that other car found and stopped before you get any more of this.

You can then appeal using the police crime report reference.

What ever you do, don't ignore this and don't pay it.

You might have a fight on your hands but engage with us and you will win. Please don't drift off like others have done only to return in a panic because they didn't follow the advice or pay attention to the detail.

BBC WatchDog “if you are struggling with an unfair parking charge do get in touch”

Please email your PCN story to watchdog@bbc.co.uk they want to hear about it.
Please then tell us here that you have done so.

Thank you but I do not understand this. They know the driver's details as they have written to the named registered keeper

But it isn't cloned plates. It's an ANPR misread.  They've enhanced the image by guesswork and got it wrong.

Grizebeck's appeal will kill it without any effort.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you, I have already reported to the Police and have a crime reference number. I am about to report to DVLA olso.

Can I find an appeal letter template anywhere here?

I will keep you posted :-)
