DougMLancs said:@michaels yes many manufacturers do seem to be reticent about publishing their modulation data. People’s observations/heatpumpmonitor.org data seem the best way. An 8kW Daikin appears to modulate down to 280W (https://community.openenergymonitor.org/t/performance-of-9kw-daikin/25243/23). My 9kW Panasonic I’ve seen as low as 200W on a heating cycle. Is that genuinely 200W for the compressor, or is the compressor off at that point, and your seeing 200W usage for circulation pumps etc that are still running? At 200W you'd likely be running at less than 10% compressor speed and efficiency will have dropped off a cliff. What sort of COP values do you see at 200W running?
Our green credentials: 12kW Samsung ASHP for heating, 7.2kWp Solar (South facing), Tesla Powerwall 3 (13.5kWh), Net exporter0 -
so to update, we have just had Octopus fit a heat pump to replace our oil system.
Install took 3 days and involved replacing 11 radiators.
Everything went well and happened on time. Quality of fit looks to be very good. All rads checked with thermal camera and are all working well.
Too early to make comments on efficiency etc but the hot water works fine! Nice to have got rid of the oil tank. (They don't remove the tank - you have to arrange that yourself, but they do remove the boiler.)4 -
Had my survey done last Monday, ironed out a couple of things in the quote, they had spec'd the 8kw Daikin instead of the 6kw and a 500wx1800h radiator for the bathroom which was way over spec, they suggested I'd need to dig out for a soakaway when theres one right next to the heat pump also.
I have now signed the agreement, my EPC is due after Aug bank hliday which i arranged via nationwide epc for £65 which I'm told Octopus will deduct off the final bill and I used a youtubers referral code for £100 off the total.
They're replacing 7 out of my 8 radiators, Daikin EDLA06E2V3 heatpump and 150L hot water cylinder for a total of £1362 (£1197 after discounts).4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.1 -

That is half what I paid for just a gas combi boiler install last year !
You got a pretty good price there.
Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -

£4100 to pay on old EPC "D", reduced you £3300 as now classed "B". Extra £500 off on some deal that was on.
Less £100 for referral code.
Still way dearer than some I've read about.
Only problem now is I'll be over loaded when had survey on mains fuse, mainly down to having electric shower which is 40A in itself.1 -
Several other factors can change a quote though even if the headline looks similar. Some pipework may need to be changed out on one quote and not on the other, a volumiser may or may not be specified, one may need pipework moving for the new rads another just drops new ones in, someone may be quoted for 4 new K2’s and another 4 new K3’s (a 600mm x1200mm K3 is 2.5x the cost of the same size K2 on Stelrad).Smart Tech Specialist with Octopus Energy Services (all views my own). 4.44kW SW Facing in-roof array with 3.6kW Givenergy Gen 2 Hybrid inverter and 9.5kWh Givenergy battery. 9kW Panasonic Aquarea L (R290) ASHP. #gasfree since July ‘230
