It's 6 days since this offer was announced on here but still no mention on the main site despite it being higher than top choice First Direct. Is there a catch to it that precludes it?

Possibly because it involves taking out a packaged bank account, which MSE don't want to push, and don't want to encourage people to use the upgrade-swtich-downgrade loophole?
MSE "pushed" the Halifax Rewards and the last Club Lloyds switch offers, are these not packaged accounts?

No. They are regular Current Accounts with perks and an avoidable fee.

How very disappointing as the 4 eligible accounts all charge a monthly fee.

Yes you can switch to one of their other current accounts - but you won't get any 200 squid.

No wonder MSE isn't bothering with it. Unless, as some people are saying, just wait until you get your money then switch again. I'm not wealthy but I just don't have the time or energy to be bothered.
Looks like the most you will be charged might be £20. If you downgrade as soon as you have the  incentive it might just be £10. You stand to make £180- I would have thought  that was worth a little bit of work! presumably you can downgrade to a Lloyds account (not Club) which has no charges at all, but also no perks.
Downgrade will be instant unlike a switch.

I would be doing this, but sadly excluded by their qualifying dates

just wondering. anyone applied (new customer) for a Silver account and not got accepted straight away? if so what timeline was there before hearing anything?
i applied on the 11th and was told they needed to do a couple of checks and wait for an email. nothing since.

That happened to me last year and I never did hear from them again. This time my wife has tried to switch and got the same message last week. Not heard anything since.
  • Hi I want to check to see if I qualify for this incentive. Can anyone let me know what word I need to be searching for in my statements that indicate that I have received a reward?

I downgraded the day I got my switch incentive, no fee actually came out yet but I assume I will be charge for the first month so leaving £10 in there. These banks are really hungry for prime current account users at the moment!

The incentive was credited to my account last November with the description "INCENTIVE".
  • I’ve downgraded to club lloyds. Will probably now have my income paid into it as the cinema tickets alone are a decent perk imo on top of the £200

Don't forget to pay in £1500 (soon to be increased!) per month so that you don't pay the account fee.
As long as the money 'visits' it does not need to stay........
