Evening ladies
I hope you are all okay. We ran some errands this morning. I spent £25 - £10 of that was a haircut for DS, and the remaining money was a couple of books from a charity shop and some lunch out. A real treat and out of the ‘fun money’ pot for the year. Still no money spent on groceries.
I also decluttered three bin bags of unwanted linen; my mum over buys that category hugely so we often get things from her when she declutters. I’m too polite to say no to her!Fire lit and feet up now. Easy picky tea xx8 -
Hello all. Still here, just no time for posting much.
@asparklyblonde, are you sure w are not related, or at least our mothers. Years ago, the house we lived in had a huge airing cupboard on the top floor, also drawers for linen on the first floor, it had been a hotel. My mum worked at a charity shop and would bring my pillow cases. "you can never have too many" she would say. They got thrown into the airing cupboard on a high shelf. After two years we were moving house, after having fixed the place up enough to make a killing. I counted the pillow cases, 196 in total! The majority went back to a different charity shop.
Fire lit here too, about to put my feet up in front of it.
"See" you all next week, hope it's less rainy, hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.

Rain and wind all day so a very lazy day or perhaps it's just stress recovery! Too horrible even for me to brave a lake swim, I'd probably still be stuck in the mud in the car park.
- Anyway I managed to get a lot of one report done.
- Wandered round the house with the thermal camera but not overly convinced I've found any real surprise areas, however it is meant to be colder in the next day or so, so perhaps that will give us some clues.
- Tried out 2 new recipes from a gf book I got for Christmas; one was a modified toad in the hole which worked very well, the other was sticky plum flapjacks which were exceedingly yummy!
- Mr N has given the wall behind the not-yet-fitted wardrobes another coat of paint and laid down laminate flooring as the previous 'wardrobe' pre-dated the flooring by years, so we only butted the flooring up against it. When we get the nod from the fitters, which should be next week hopefully, we are now ready!
- Did some drum practice, really enjoying working on the Beatles Come Together.
- Changed our accommodation booking for Stoke in Feb as the one we had booked were insistent they wanted me to send a screenshot of my passport, despite me emailing to say we weren't overseas visitors. When I looked up the company they were all Russian so I was even more dubious. Re-booked at a Holiday Inn which do not ask for anything; I don't mind showing proof of identity at the front desk but not over the internet.....am I too suspicious?Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
ASB.. thank you .. but it is fine.. it is not light to post.. I have acquired 3 double beds in the last 2 years and have 4 sheets.. I only get the cheap Dunelm stuff anyway as it is for the children and they just grot on everything. DS1 needs some too.. but they are both working and need to learn to budget better!Narco.. I don't think you are being overly cautious. It probably wouldn't get them very far but it is not worth the risk.
DW run again, swimming stuff washed.Twinkle has been vile today.. she was put in time out at swimming she was wild!
Hung up the wet stuff.

Morning all,
I had a good sleep thankfully so feel quite raring to go today! Just as well because we have had snow overnight, so I will wrap up when it gets light and see how everyone is holding up outside! I ended up with 6 bin bags of things to get rid of and a huuuuge pile of old paperwork to burn. So satisfying.
The WM is currently on with the children's outwear - although it will be filthy after school again tomorrow at least it will have stayed clean for 24 hours or so! And that is what it's for
I will make a Sunday dinner later as we still have lots of Christmas meat and veg leftovers that were frozen, so that deals with that. I suppose we should bake too as the treat tin is depleted. Take care everyone, this January has really been quite yuck as far as the weather is concerned, stay well, warm and dry xx
PS Not going anywhere so this will be NSD 11/31 xx9 -
Morning all
considering I spent yesterday snuffling, sniffing and sneezing I’m pleased that I’ve slept so well.
yesterday did bitty jobs and explored Vinted as DD has clothes to sell, I’ve also got stuff to sell which I might eBay, too including the candy striped sheets you urged me to sell a while ago. Been a bit busy being cured and didn’t want to list stuff and then not be able to post it.
written my Christmas cards received down (so I know who to send to next year) So an admin job done. Got lots of them.Diary looking pretty full this week, physio, picc flush and blood and chemo. Also got appointment as building soc with DD as I am still on her account - they changed opening time in Covid and never changed them back. I’m planning on closing mine because I could never get in there. You can go later but have to have an appointment. It’s a shame, it’s in one of the town centres oldest buildings and I used to love going in.We were forecast snow for tomorrow but that’s changed, I dare say they’ll get it up there *waves in general direction of Britain’s first National Park* (useful trivia/quiz knowledge)Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Morning all,
The short lived sunshine has disappeared, and it is back to rain that looks suspiciously like it might turn to sleet any time soon. It’s so very dark, so the hopes that I might be able to drag DH out for some fresh air this morning have disappeared. Good for the ironing pile, I suppose.
After yet another night in the WAC, I then slept in until 8.30am. The wm is finally on, a moroccan soup is in the sc, which should make the kitchen at least smell warm. I need to do the usual Sunday freezer juggle and meal plan. I have a couple of prepped dishes for DD to squeeze in the freezer, hopefully one more with today’s soup as well.Spent yesterday afternoon conjuring up a few cards for February birthdays. Quite pleased with the results, not sure if the recipients will feel the same, but that’s another potential NSD in the bag.6
