Japanese toilets

Options
We're looking at having a Japanese style toilet installed when our bathroom is refurbished - the OH made a trip to Japan a few years back and was blown away by their toilets!
There are quite a lot to choose from and a heated seat is on the "essential" list, but it's hard to find out how much power they use in standby, as it were. From what I can find out the seat uses 55 to 65W and is on all the time, although you can programme the times the seat is heated and there are "eco" modes with some too. It seems the water feed for the washing is heated on demand, and I am assured it doesn't start with a blast of cold water - which wouldn't get received very well. :o
So, does anyone know how much electricity a Japanese toilet typically uses? They aren't cheap to buy as it is, and I'd hate to get saddled with an unaffordable running cost.

Would this not be one of these "if you have to ask, then you can't afford it" scenarios?  Like worrying about the fuel consumption on a new Ferrari?

It does seem a bit that way. ;)

Can you still flush them during a power cut?

They have a mechanical flush button, should the automated one not operate. Could be embarrassing otherwise! :D

I would be more worried about being blown away when using a toilet! :D

Some have an automatic lid that lifts when you walk in. Wife thinks it's cool but I can't see the point of it - how can it tell if you want the lid and seat raising, or just the lid? ;)
Grandchildren would probably get lots of entertainment figuring out how to sneak into the bathroom without the toilet spotting them though!

Electricity, bathroom, toilet - That is a recipe for disaster... The first thing to check is whether electrical regulations would allow for a toilet to be installed in the location you have in mind.

Has to be hard wired in, with an isolating switch outside the bathroom.

I think you're missing the point of the toilet, which is provide you with a luxurious sit-down-wee experience as well.  The Japanese are meticulously clean, hence these loos.

Otherwise, what's the point of having the loo seat heated 247 for the maybe one time you happen to be at the right toilet a day for a 💩 ?

The sit down wee is a godsend for women.  A whole lot less mess and smell.

The stand up wee is why I hate shared toilets.  I was in a restaurant on Sunday, early lunch, and only the 4th toilet was acceptable - because men.

I was going to say similar.  If you can afford the toilet, you can afford the running cost.
