Not a lot happening in Milann land today. I stayed the same at SW - I’m happy with that as I ate and drank everything I wanted when we were out on Wednesday…..
I have been painting some model buildings that have been ongoing for a while now….I’m not putting them out until they’re finished or they won’t get done. I can’t put my Christmas tree up until the models are out as they’re sitting where the tree will go.
Dh put theChristmas decorations on the fence and a couple only light half way round so they’re not staying up. They don’t seem to do similar ones anymore, which is a shame. He will just have to move the ones from the side fences to the back to fill the gaps.
I need to phone my brother as my sil has had surgery today. It was routine to stay in 10 days last time she had similar surgery but it’s probably going to be an overnight stay if everything goes well. She’ll recover better at home but not sure what happens about the physio she’d have had in hospital.

Still not much happening here. I did visit a different town with ds over the opposite side of the Pennines on Saturday. I was very surprised there was no snow on the tops of the hills…just a heavy frost where the sun hadn’t reached. I am happy we haven’t had any snow here.
I seem to have been doing a lot of cleaning and getting nowhere fast - I’ve carried jobs I’d have done in a flash over to the following day. It’s taken me an age. Anyway the tree is up and the house is virtually up to my Christmas blitzing regime. I just want Dh to fill my carpet cleaner for me ( I haven’t got the grip to be able to open and remove the canister that holds the cleaning fluid)  it’s only like using a hoover once it’s set up. Wednesday is the day planned for that as ds has a day of tomorrow and is taking me out for lunch 😁 Then I’m going to enjoy some Christmas crafting and wrapping the presents I’m hoping to find inspiration and buy tomorrow 😂😂😂

Sunshine Girl we are heading to the big shopping mall and probably over to C@stc@. But plans might change depending on what time his workman arrives…..expected between 8-12 then he’s picking me up. On hoping for some inspiration…….

I must have been tired. Dh brings me a cuppa every morning about 7.30. I didn’t even know he’d got out of bed never mind brought a cuppa up too. I woke up at 8.25 to a stone cold drink. I did get up at 1.30 and 4 am for the usual trips to the loo but nodded straight back off. I ended up taking the drink for a microwave blast.
Just ordered my medical supplies for over the Christmas period.
Doing a bit of ironing until I know what time ds is arriving.
I can predict a spendy day today.

My plan today was to buy Christmas cake ingredients and finally get them baked…..I’m so so behind this year. I wanted to put the  cakes in the oven and go to aqua aerobics. However Jack Frost had different ideas 🥶 the wet pavements of yesterday have frozen solid this morning. It’s like an ice rink out there and I’m not setting outside the front door unless there is a thaw so I’ve cancelled my booking today and  tomorrow. I’m hoping to meet some old work friends from my previous job tomorrow and on Monday some friends from a place I worked many years ago. I just hope it’s not as icy as today or I’ll not be going anywhere.
So today I’m going to finish tidying upstairs…..I’ve done most of the deep cleaning and sorting out. It just all needs bringing together. If I don’t get out for the cake ingredients this afternoon will be spent finishing my crocheted Christmas wreath which is virtually finished.
Yesterday was indeed a spendy day. Ds treated me to a carvery which was very nice. From there we headed over to the big shopping mall, we didn’t venture over to c@stc@ as I’d had enough by then. They’ve moved the MandS to the old Debenhams store. It felt very strange walking in as the set up was completely different. I’ll reserve judgement until I’m more familiar. I wasn’t keen on the cafe which has been getting much good press locally. It’s all electronic ordering. I prefer to deal with people than machines…..apparently the aim is to change all their cafes to be electronic. The cake I shared was very nice though.😁 I bought 1 present which ds ordered online for me as it wasn’t in stock in store. Still no idea what to get for most folk though. I’ll go out on my own one day. Ds got his shopping completed. I could barely put my foot on the floor when I got home and think I maybe need to start taking something out to take some of my weight…..it’s the standing still that is getting to me…fed up.com
Right sitting here won’t get a lot done. Onwards and upwards 👍😀

So much for an afternoon of crochet. It’s taken me all day to sort upstairs. It’s done now. I did have a break to phone a relative, I’m trying to get to see them early next week. I just hope it’s not icy.
The missing ingredients for my Christmas cake are still in the shop. I really need to get my recipe out and see what I need to buy. I’m making 4 small ones this year - a small one for us and the rest are for presents. I have a tin that can be divided so I can make all 4 together and 1 bigger cake. I could do without going out tomorrow afternoon but if I get the ingredients ready I can put them in the oven when I get home about 3 ish.
Right I’d better go and see what I want for tea. Plenty of home made meals to drag out of the freezer 😃

I've always fancied owning one of those dividable cake tins. Ditto a fancy bundt tin, but the latter seem to have reached really quite silly prices & I wish I'd bought one earlier.
We had awful ice here yesterday too. Our garden was frozen white when I peeped out before dawn & it was exactly the same by late afternoon. Now replaced by big rain.

Foxgloves I must have had my dividing tin about 30 years. I used to use it a lot but I don’t use it often these days. In the days I made cakes for people it was a Godsend.
I’m going out at about 12.15 to meet some friends for a carvery. Dh is out this morning until about 1 pm. The rest of the day one of us will be in. I’ve just had notification that a parcel will be delivered between 11.58 and 12.58. It’s that blooming law again for it to arrive in the 45 minutes throughout the day that 1 of us isn’t  in 😏 Hopefully it’ll arrive at 11.58 on the dot 🤞 If it’s not here by 12 I’ll see if my neighbour is in to take it in.
Thankfully all the ice has vanished……it would be very nice if we don’t see it again but I’m not holding my breath on that one.
I need to make a list of ingredients for the cakes and some chutney which I’ll pick up on my way home from outing with friends…..other than that I have no jobs to do. I’m on top of tidying, washing and ironing- not something that happens often. So I am having an hour or so watching a film and doing some crochet 😁 The wreath might be finished this Christmas after all 🤞🎅🏼😁
