Milann’s quest for a new me in 23

Mini hedge is now trimmed. I do like gardening in miniature as most tasks are easy 😀
Since the sun is shining and it's the first day we've had 2 consecutive dry days for a long time. I think I'm going to oil the decking and ramp we had put in last year.
I stuck to my food plan yesterday so today will beBraekfast - beans on wholemeal toast 2 syns for a bit of spread.
Dinner - beef salad
Tea - griddled chicken, peppers, courgette and onions with rice. 2 syns for a bit of oil
I'm trying hard not to snack 😀
I'm hoping to stay the same weight as my last weigh in at sw tomorrow. If I do it'll be a big step as I always used to put at least 3 lb on after a week in Cornwall 🤞

The ramp and decking have been oiled. True to form the oil the carpenter left us last year ran out 2/3rds down the ramp. Off I trots to the diy with the big orange signage as it was their own brand. Not a chance….they don’t stock it anymore. Story of my life 😏 After picking myself up from the floor (not literally thankfully) at the £46 price tag I scuttled off to ask assistant if they had any own make in the back. No they didn’t. Thankfully she pointed me to R@nseal which was on offer at £20. So annoying for 1/3 rd of a ramp. And they didn’t have the same colour. Carpenter had used teak and I could only see light oak or a very dark colour. So rather than having a multi coloured ramp and decking I gave it an extra coat of the light oak to blend it all. Thankfully it’s not a particularly big area. I sat on my cushion whilst I did it, which desperately needs a wash now.I’d planned a lazy sort of weekend easy food with a lot of pootling in the garden and maybe a trip out. My friend’s funeral is on Tuesday and his daughter and family live way down south and coming home tomorrow . I’ve just had a message asking if they can come to see us over the weekend. Im quite pleased they are coming around and feel comfortable enough to spend the day with us at this sad time. So I will enjoy doing a buffet for 9 of us. Not the quiet weekend I planned but equally enjoyable…we’ve been thinking about him so we might as well be together. There will be a couple of little girls which love coming here to play with the toys we keep here for my gks. It’s a sad occasion but I’m looking forward to seeing them.
I wish I hadn’t arranged a day out with family member tomorrow now but it is what it is. I have been in touch with age concern to see if there is anything in her area and what can be done to help her. But if she won’t help herself I’m not expecting anyone else to be able to help her.January spends - £587.580 -
Sorry about your friend and how nice of his daughter to come and visit. I hope you have a nice weekend enjoying happier memories.
Glad you enjoyed Cornwall in spite of the cold and presumably occasionally rainy weather. It has been unseasonably cold here this year after the last two years having lovely warm Springs. I recognise Padstow in your pictures and glad you managed to get to the Seasalt shop. I love Padstow too but because the parking situation is usually horrible we often cycle there from Wadebridge which has the added benefit I cannot buy much in the shops as it is tricky to get stuff back on the bikes.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Enthusiasticsaver we did really well parking Millie in Padstow, right next to the trail. Dh cycled into Wadebridge and back whilst I mooched around. We’ve been going down there over 30 years and used to always stay between Padstow and Newquay with the friends who are coming at weekend. Eventually we kept our old caravan between Truro and Falmouth and used it as a base to travel from. You are so lucky living down there. The weather last March was better than we had this April…..that said we’ve had some rainy August’s in our time 😂😂
Talking of Millie, they have tried the silicone repair as it is quite low in the window. They said if it had been where the wipers were it would have been a new screen. He did say we were covered if it did crack 😳 I was quite surprised it’s still fairly visible.January spends - £587.582 -
Yes you can never tell with our Cornish weather but we love living down here. Great you managed a parking spot for Millie in the centre of Padstow and you have not had to replace the whole windscreen.
When my DH accepted a job transfer down here from the SE more than 30 years ago we were told we were mad for moving away from London due to lack of job opportunities and never being able to move back. I can honestly say we have never regretted it. None of us ever had problems with finding work and DH continued with the same company all the way up to us taking early retirement.
Now all our London friends and family are retiring down hereI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Good news about the windscreen. I have to say I'm very surprised they have repaired it. But its better for you that they have.

I was surprised they repaired it RS, it is a tad worrying that he said…..just get onto the insurance if it cracks 😵💫😳
enthuasticsaver my Dh was made redundant about 25 years ago and we had our eye on a little empty shop in St Ives….we fancied making it a little cafe. We even put the house on the market then Dh was offered a job here and he wouldn’t take the chance. Had he not been offered the job we would have taken the chance but decided a steady income was better than the gamble. It’s no good looking back saying ‘ what if’ but I’ve always wondered
Yesterday was a looonnnnnngggggg day. How can you help somebody who doesn’t want to be helped and doesn’t particularly want to be around anymore. I went to the big shopping mall but spent most of the time in cafes going over and over the same things. It is what it is. I’ve made all sorts of suggestions whilst trying not to nag and keeping impartial so as not to add fuel to the flames of a family feud - which I’m staying well out of 😳 😳😳😳
Relative paid for a lunch and I bought the coffees at a couple of cafes. The first one was average priced but she saw a new one that was pink EVERYWHERE with lots of pink flowers. She thought it was wonderful. The cakes looked good so we decided to share one as they were big. £18 for 2 lattes and 1 cake 😳😳😳😳 dearer than we paid for dinner on a midday offer 😳
Today we’re actually heading to see what’s happening in a town an hour away….there’s a bit of a song contest going on there over the next week or so. If it’s heaving we will stay in the car and move along the coast. But there could be a good atmosphere and I believe there’s things happening in the streets. I’m hoping everyone will be watching the coronation at home 🤞 I’ll catch the highlights of the coronation at some point, I don’t feel the need to have every minute detail of it all day.January spends - £587.582 -
There's one of those ultra pink cafes in the town that you're going to today. There's also a songbird trail to follow if you fancy a wonder round. I was going to suggest a trip into town to the House Troll but I can just imagine his face if it's busy 🙄🤣0
